We were surprised that the fuel economy and CO2 figures for this Alfa Romeo were as good as they are for the performance but it's not the case over the range so look closely before deciding on a model. It achieved a 5 star rating in the Euro NCAP tests and also features a drivers knee airbag. The concensus in the motoring press is that Alfa Romeo have targetted the BMW 3 Series with the 159. That probably wasn't the best idea they ever had because it is a long way from matching the BMW 3 series in build quality, fuel economy or CO2 emissions. Nevertheless it looks and feels good, has a distinctly Alfa Romeo styling and handles well. Depreciation is poor so that may affect leasing costs.
