Like if there was a little argument or two in the book even if it was settled quickly it would have been perfect.Having read the book, I now think this book could be enjoyed with an adult by children aged 8 and up.

Either way, I'm going to be first in line to see what happens with Mia and her friends in the next adventure. Also, the behaviour of these younger siblings never quite matches that of actual humans in that age bracket.I’m a huge fan of a map in epic fantasy adventures as I love to refer to it as places are mentioned during my reading, giving me a real sense of place. It features magic and relatable school aged kids without the transphobia associated with a certain other fantasy series geared toward the same age group. This is totally random but I just found it hilarious to read a book that reminded me of a game I sometimes play. I really felt the sense of threat and tension throughout as I learned more about this terrifying King who is responsible for the perpetual Darkness, and who has willing and loyal followers prepared to carry out his wishes.
