The first half was good, but as we discover our main antagonists and what's happening (which was a big Meh for me), the middle part really dragged. It might blow a hole in the person's ear, just the outside flap, and it's sure to shatter the person's eardrum.

Apparently large chunks of the American populace are less than impressed by the result of electing a king every four years and Big Beau exploits this popular sentiment by going big time for creating his own fiefdom in leafy Montana. The new floor joists were going to be raised a foot off the old joists with twelve-inch lengths of the new softwood. There were ninety square yards of carpet on the floor, and the whole ninety together had probably cost less than just one of the chairs. Lee Child was born October 29th, 1954 in Coventry, England, but spent his formative years in the nearby city of Birmingham.

Killing Floor was an immediate success and launched the series which has grown in sales and impact with every new installment. Here the plot is rather weak and as always there's a certain implausibility about Reacher altogether.

The leader was twisted around in the front seat with his gun hand resting against the thick leather headrest. Full of non-stop action and gritty suspense, "Die Trying" is a tightly plotted thriller starring one of the most exciting action heroes in today's fiction, the redoubtable, romantic, footloose former army cop, Jack Reacher. Reacher and the woman join forces, against seemingly hopeless odds, to outwit their captors and escape. I can’t remember the last time I felt like my heart was going to burst from excitement while reading a book.

S. president is so concerned with politics that he turns a blind eye to a group of murderous conspiracy nut jobs who have kidnapped the daughter of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Oop's , sorry, it's not him, it's a rather attractive, lethally capable hot shot FBI agent with a limp and high ranking connections which make her a great hostage.Die Trying is the second novel in the Jack Reacher series and I have to say this one didn’t grab my attention as much as the first but by the end I was hooked. Not the sustained kind of thing that wins you a medal in a war, but the split-second kind of blurting outrage that gets you killed on the street. The main character is obviously Jack Reacher and I don’t think we connected with him as a person as much as we did in Killing Floor. On the way, Reacher learns the woman is an FBI agent named Holly Johnson, though she doesn't tell him she's the daughter of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff or goddaughter of the President, having been accused of being the beneficiary of nepotism all her life.

There’s also plenty of writing surrounding marksmanship and Child does some nifty work describing the ballistics in a technical fashion that is fun to read.I’m still going to recommend this books because it did keep me gripped but I do think I’m going to end up having an issue with the relationships and sex that seem to plague and take over the story! He was also a new arrival, recently transferred in to the Chicago office, because that was where the Bureau found it needed its financial people. I think the worst bit of Die Trying would have to be the random sexual advances none of them really made sense and it kind of ruined the story for me.
