Description

Once the drops have had a few seconds to work, you can now use the NoseFrida to remove the loosened mucus from the nasal passage. Repeat in the other nostril. If instructions are followed properly and it’s used for its intended purpose only, then, no, it is not harmful to baby. Be sure to store parts and extra pieces in a safe place where little hands cannot reach. Is it bad to use NoseFrida too much? Nosefrida gives the parents a chance to help babies blow their nose and clear their airway so they can sleep and eat. It’s user-friendly and safe. I recommend it to all my Moms as part of their cold care regimen. It helps keep kids off antibiotics."

Nose Frida is designed to be safe and effective for clearing nasal congestion in young children,” says Dr. Jimenez. “However, it is imperative that the device is used properly. If the suction is too strong or the device is inserted too far into the child’s nasal cavity, it may cause discomfort or even injury to the nasal passages. Anecdotally, nose bleeds have been reported with Nose Frida. Applying a few drops of saline solution to each nostril before use might make the process more comfortable for the child. If a caregiver has questions, it is always best to consult with your child's pediatrician or a healthcare professional on how to use the device properly. Try not to overuse these devices since they can cause some swelling in the nose,” adds Dr. Katugaha. “Nasal aspiration with a medical device — the Nose Frida is FDA-approved — associated with a saline solution, during viral rhinitis (a common cold), has been shown to lower the risk of developing acute otitis media (ear infections) and rhinosinusitis (sinus infections), in comparison with a group treated with saline solution alone.” After suctioning, dispose of the disposable filter– the filter keeps the snot from your mouth, so you never interact directly with the transfer of mucus. It’s safe and effective, as well as easy and affordable. Once you know what’s causing the congestion you can work to clear the issue. The NoseFrida is easily assembled for use:

Hold baby in a reclined position. Remember, you can wrap baby in a towel if they’re especially squirmy to keep hands and arms out of the way or have another adult help

Apply gentle suction to begin with, increasing suction as necessary until you see mucus in the large tube. The filter will protect you from getting anything near your own mouth. Add a NoseFrida to your registry, medicine cabinet, nursery inventory along with some saline drops and a bulb syringe to help combat congestion and help baby (and you) feel more comfortable when illness strikes! The NoseFrida and bulb syringe both have their place in the nursery and have similar uses, but there are some advantages and disadvantages to each… Elevate baby’s head by using a crib wedge at night (DO NOT use pillows or blankets in the crib to elevate baby’s head to reduce the risk of SIDS)

Clean Nosefrida after each use: wash large tube out with soap and warm water. Rinse well and allow to dry. Change the hygiene filter. Try to limit suctioning of your child’s nose to 4 or fewer times per day. The best time to clear a baby’s nose is before feeding and before sleep. Is the NoseFrida sanitary? The NoseFrida is definitely safe to use on your baby. Thanks to the disposable filter, your mouth bacteria can’t be transferred to your baby, and vice versa. Cold and flu season can be a difficult time for parents with young children. Recent studies have shown that over-the-counter medications provide little or no relief for symptoms of nasal congestion and runny nose. I have personally used Nosefrida on my children and can attest to the ease of use, safety and effective suctioning of the nose. As a pediatrician and mother of three, I endorse this product without reservation."
