Are you struggling to remove the fetters from your imagination? You might want to read The Artist's Way*, or you could read this....Or both!

There's an overarching narrative connecting the books that functions as a frame story, which gives this series a boost in the reading comprehension skills department! The other frogs and Flippy say that they really like the book, but Flippy says the potty humor wasn't necessary. When a frog asks why, Flippy says that there is nothing funny about poo-poo, causing all the frogs to laugh. Flippy asks if anyone made a comic that wasn't violent or disgusting, and K.T. responds, saying their comic is free of offensiveness.

These books are fantastic! My 7 and 9 year old love them. They both have reading ranges years above actual. Frankie, C.C., and Boo used to work as Law Enforcers. But they changed their minds and became space heroes. They detect a bully on a planet, and try to stop the bully. But the bully ejects an evil robot out of his body. The baby frogs turn the robot into a good robot, and they prompt him to hug the bully. The bully runs away, and the victim is saved. I read this with my ten year old daughter, but my twelve year old kept coming to listen to it as well. Squid Kid and Katydid , Baby Frog Squad , Gorilla Cheese Sandwich , and Birds Flowers Tree : A Haiku Photo Comic are just some of the mini-comics that are included as stories-within-the-story, each done in a different style, utilizing humour and drama, prose and poetry, illustrated in different media including The baby frogs blame Naomi and Melvin for all their mistakes throughout the past week, but Flippy blames it all on himself. They all try to comfort him using comics. The adventures continue as the third week of the Comic Club unfolds. Naomi submits her comic for publication and Melvin becomes her agent. She is committed to being rich so she can buy stuff for everyone. Her conversations with her dad offer moments for readers to think about in the midst of the humor. I appreciate the emphasis on perseverance and believing in yourself. The thing that pushed this specific entry in the Cat Kid Comic Club series OVER THE TOP for me was the amazing "sensitivity read" of the publisher rejection. The Cat Kid Comic Club is deep in discovery in the newest graphic novel in the hilarious and heartwarming worldwide bestselling series by Dav Pilkey, the author and illustrator of Dog Man. Melvin writes a comic all about his sister, Naomi and her perspective, with the formatting being like a song. The shenanigans are nonstop and the baby frogs’ minicomics are funny and full of heart. Creating stories within a story, author and illustrator Dav Pilkey uses a variety of techniques — including acrylic paints, colored pencils, calligraphy, photography, collage, gouache, watercolors, and much more — to portray each frog’s perspective. The kaleidoscope of art styles, paired with Pilkey’s trademark storytelling and humor, fosters creativity, collaboration, independence, and empathy. Readers of all ages will relish this joyful graphic novel adventure.
