This is why we have developed the ultimate guide to mascaras to help you choose the formula and wand that will give you the results you’re after. With detail on each type and the anticipated results, selecting your next cult mascara can be done with in the blink of an eye – an eye with utterly flawless lashes might we add. The all-time all-rounders The No7 line from Boots Beauty has been expanding rapidly since they’ve landed in the US, and I haven’t found one dud in the bunch. My latest obsession from the brand is their No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara. I don’t know if it was the teal tube that dragged me in, but I’m so glad this landed in my drawer because it’s been the only mascara I’ve been wearing in my every day routine lately. The definition of lashes is nothing short of incredible, it’s been 10 hours since I applied it this morning and my lashes are still separated, you can actually still see each individual one BUT – this is the biggie, not in a spidery way. This appears to be the number one gripe against the mascara. I agree it’s on the dry side, but for me, ‘dry’ means I don’t have to dab it on a tissue first to get rid of excess product ie it’s not a wet formula.

My next test for this mascara was to see how well it would work with my Clinique eyelash primer, to see whether it would improve the finish of the mascara or not. Upon applying the mascara (on top of the primer) I felt that it was even easier to apply and that my lashes instantly looked hugely longer and more volumised than they had been without the primer on – although still suitable for every day wear. The mascara lasted all day and needed no touch ups were needed to improve the look throughout that day. I was very surprised by this as the mascara wasn’t waterproof and I’d worn it from early in the morning to around midnight. I’d also had a few forgetful moments where I rubbed my eyes before realising I was wearing it, but was pleased to notice that it had not budged, or smudged. Most of all I love that it is easy to wash away with cleanser or soap. No need for eye makeup removers, and should a little flake off, and end up in your eye, it doesn’t sting or hurt in any way, and I am a lens wearer to boot! Advantages: Great coverage, definition, doesn't clump, doesn't flake, lasts well, easy to use etc etc

When I got it home, I opened it straight away to look at this wand that seems to be its main selling point from the advert! The wand on the mascara is indeed very interesting – it actually claims to be 3 brushes in 1 so it has 3 defined points that are you should note, those being; 1. The longer bristles as these give volume to your lashes, 2. The shorter bristles that you should use to comb through to give separation and definition (and removes clumps), and thirdly there’s the tip which obviously coats the teeny lashes that are usually so very hard to get to. Finding the mascara that meets your lash requirements can sometimes feel like an impossible task. Whether it’s volume or length, definition or waterproof protection, there are so many options that it can hard to know which one is right for you. The first application made my lashes look longer and gave a lovely separated finish that was noticeable but not over the top – perfect for natural every day application; and the formulation actually has vitamins in, that are said to enrich the lashes so it should actually be good for your lashes to wear it every day if this is correct. I gave a second coat shortly after and was impressed to see that this seemed to make my lashes quite dramatic looking but without clumping yet again. In an effort to switch up my routine, I’ve been trying a lot of new mascaras in search for some new go-tos. In the midst of them all, I found what might be my new favorite drugstore mascara. Speaking of the brush, it’s curved to help lift lashes, and has two sizes of bristles: longer tines for your upper lashes, and short, finer tines for your bottom lashes. Both types are dense and strategically spaced so that you never end up with any clumps. At the tip, there’s a nub with splayed bristles for hard-to-reach lashes like in your corners. For this reason, my lashes never look like they’re coated in layers of mascara— they actually look naturally voluminous and long and glam! Code vlm mascara is Smudge-Proof, Clump and Flake Free. Our mascara has been developed dryer to make sure its the perfect amount of product on the brush. Other wet mascara leaves too much product on the brush, leading to clumpy lashes.
