Description

Solo stoves cook your meals with nothing but the twigs you collect on your journey, eliminating the need for heavy, expensive, polluting petroleum gas. It’s easy to light, fast to boil and clean to use.By using renewable resources for fuel instead of petroleum, you are reducing your carbon footprint. You’ll also keep fuel canisters out of the landfill. Dry fuel is king. When it comes to cooking over a fire, dry wood is essential. It’ll burn easier, faster, and hotter. That means you won’t have to wait as long for your coffee to brew in the morning. The stove features a steel mesh on the bottom which keeps the fuel off the base and improves airflow. It has a double wall with strategically placed holes on the inside and outside walls. These features allow optimal air flow around the fire to burn the wood as efficiently as possible. All the stoves comes in two parts – the main stove section and a cooking ring which acts as a spacer and pot support. The cooking ring nests inside the stove for storage. To use it, flip it over and set it on top of the stove. The stove includes a storage bag which fits comfortably. In the picture below, you see the main stove and cooking ring with the storage bag – the dark color of the metal is a normal change when stainless steel is exposed to high heat. Expect the cooking ring and top of the stove to change color after the first use. I didn’t get a Solo Stove to do a review. I bought it as a birthday gift for my wife. But, we enjoyed it so much this summer that I decided to review the Yukon. I use seasoned hardwood logs and the occasional Duraflame when I’m out of firewood. Under those conditions, it performed as advertised. There was minimal smoke, and because it burns so efficiently, there’s very little ash or debris to clean out.

Now that we got past all the boring specifications, let’s get to what you really want to know… Can I really make a campfire with the Campfire? You can actually see in the photos how well the vent holes work to channel oxygen right into the flames. The heavier colored flames are all coming directly from the vent holes. Couples and Small Families: Since it’s only a 1-burner stove, you are somewhat limited with how much you can cook. But if you plan carefully and cook simple meals, the Campfire can easily feed 2-4 people. This was my first run-in with a Solo Stove Bonfire fire pit, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

Once the fire builds up you can easily see that the flames come up around the side of the pot. These flames could easily melt or burn plastic insulated handles, so you want to be careful what pots you cook with on the stove. The handle will also get hot so be sure you have something to grab to the handle with without burning your hand. This the largest of the Solo Stoves and it not only makes a great stove it doubles as a raised campfire. After placing the cooking ring on top of the body its vent holes seemed to concentrate the flames even more. Burn Chamber – This is the main body of the Solo Stove. It is equipped both on the top and bottom with vent holes. The walls of the burn chamber are constructed in a double layer of 304 stainless steel. The burn chamber houses the other parts of the Solo Stove and holds that wood while it is burning.

Don’t worry, I’ll answer all those and more. But first lets take a look at a few of the Solo Stove Campfire’s features to see how it compares to some other camp stoves. Solo Stove CAMPFIRE Features We fit six chairs around it and weren’t crammed, so I’d say for most families, this firepit is big enough for everyone to enjoy! And it puts out a lot of heat so you don’t have to cram intogether to feel it. We tested out the Solo Stove Bonfire in the wonderful Wyoming wilderness with the family! How do I prevent rain from getting in when I’m using it at camp?Solo stoves camp stoves are available in several model sizes – Lite, Titan, and Campfire. The Lite stove is the smallest and lightest, and clearly intended for cooking single serving meals. Next up, the Titan portable stove is the medium size and is marketed for meals serving 2-4 people. The largest stove – Campfire, is best suited for group meals. solo stove also makes fire pits, but that’s a different article. solo stove – What it looks like, how it works

When it comes to boiling water, this pit can get it boiling at full capacity in no more than 5 minutes if you use a medium-sized pot filled to half. The bottom of the stove remains fairly cool while burning. There were no marks on the wood I used to support the stove, and I’m comfortable using it on a wood picnic table (I don’t know if it’s cool enough to be safe on plastic) Yes! If you compare it to the normal wood-burning fire pits or fire rings at a campground (the ones that are like 3 feet high) the warmth is similar if not better. I actually had to give it a little more space than I’m used to because it’s so hot!If you're like me and you start looking at the accessories and can't make a choice between which one you want most, just get them all! They're pretty useful and you do save money compared to buying them separate! While I usually use canister fuel camp stoves on my camping trips, I’ve been curious about the wood burning solo stoves and wanted to try one. The idea of cooking with only twigs was just too intriguing to pass up – who doesn’t want to use free fuel! But which size is the best choice? This solo stove review will cover the points you need to decide. In this review, I’ll share: What the Solo Stove Campfire is super famous for is its patented double-wall construction. It creates an airflow between the walls of the stove. This airflow, combined with the unique design of the bottom vents, creates secondary combustion. which results in a more efficient burn (so there’s very little smoke when burning at full capacity) and less ash and soot.
