This picture book mingles fantasy with information most successfully… a lively introduction to some of the main London sights within the context of an appealing story…The text keeps up the pace of the story and includes a lot of convincing dialogue. Registered office address: Unit 34 Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EF.

James Mayhew knows just how to capture the imagination and he depicts all the famous sights, beautifully drawn. In a city with so much exciting and interesting aspects, we should encourage our children to embrace it,, and this book presents an opportunity to do just that. They show a city full of life and movement – people and vehicles on the city streets, Tower Bridge swinging open for the river traffic and the London Eye turning as Katie, Jack and the lion rise high above London. What initially comes to mind is using this story within geography and using maps of London to pinpoint the famous sights mentioned within the book. My only criticism would be that London looks a lot cleaner in this story than how I remember it when I lived there! It can be used in so many ways in English including adjectives, speech and diary writing for example, and also as a cross-curricular resource in Geography (capital cities and landmarks) and Drama (freeze frames for example). A beautiful story to capture any child if looking to use London as a topic or about to visit London itself.

I know most of the landmarks Katie visits, and the older granddaughter brought it home from her own visit.A quick romp (sometimes just a fleeting glance, sometimes more exploration) around some of London's best-known tourist attractions, including Trafalgar Square, St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace. Flo has it in her class at school and is excited to go to London to see the sites and to see the lion. When Grandma gets tired they stop a while in Trafalgar Square, and whilst Grandma rests on a bench Katie and her brother find themselves going on a magical adventure with one of the Trafalgar Square lions! At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. Love the artwork in the book and the story is beautiful a must for any child English or learning English also great for adults to I enjoyed the story.
