When a nurse is murdered on her way home from nightshift, Jack and his team go on the hunt for her killer. The fish out off water setting (tick) the hard nosed not playing by the rules cop (tick) - on the other hand the plot was deftly delivered; there were the obligatory twists and turns; there was some humour; the writing wasn't trying too hard but workmanlike if not necessarily memorable.

Additionally, I appreciated the humor and wit displayed by the characters more than I would if I had read a text copy. Readers who aren’t familiar with some of the terminology or have never experienced Scotland may find it easier to read the text. There’s a tangible sense of the Scottish Highlands throughout the book; the author grew up in Fort William and his knowledge of, and fondness for, the area shines through. Logan had arrested Petrie the Whisper Man years ago, and that case took everything from him, the details and perversions of the perp drained him out both as a person and cop. launching the second in the DCI Logan Scottish crime series for my reading pleasure on a train ride downtown.Thank you for the opportunity to read this book because I really enjoyed it and would love to read the others in the series. It becomes incredibly difficult to put down as there is a lot of threads to the plot and they engage you so much that it pushes you to read on to find out what exactly is going on. Usually I read books you can learn something from, but for a change, I went for a novel, chose "A litter of bones" and loved it. But as similarities between the two cases grow, could it be that Jack caught the wrong man all those years ago? In every interview he conducted he was on the verge of punching someone only for some hardened criminal to quake in fear and reveal all.

The local team assigned to him are for the most part good at their jobs and work with him cooperatively to find the kidnapper and save the child. Connor going missing has all the hallmarks of the 'Petrie' case which has haunted DCI Logan for a long time. Meanwhile, a hundred miles north in the Highlands not far from Fort William, a child goes missing while walking his dog with his dad.Nothing remarkable in the story-telling or the characterizations, and only passing references to the beautiful scenery, but capably written with plenty of forward momentum to hold my attention. Labai lengvai ir greitai įsijaučiau į siužetą, o detektyvų komandoje dirbantys personažai buvo įdomiai sukurti, su charizma ir puikiu humoro jausmu.

I was also pleasantly surprised by some of the wit and humour throughout as I was not expecting it but it contrasted with the dark, disturbing narrative perfectly. Full details of your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations are available in the UK from your local Citizens' Advice Bureau or your Local Authority's Trading Standards Office. Now, Jack has to prove if there is a copy cat killer or if he arrested the wrong man all those years ago.

I am not usually affected by 'triggers', but I had to 'speed up' the audiobook narration whenever there were mentions of the hideous cruelty inflicted on several cats. Developed characters, thoughts and situations explained in detail, it was like watching a good movie in my head. In this book DCI Jack Logan is asked to help find a missing boy, who was taken whilst out in the woods. They feel like people I know already, in a way that often takes several books to achieve in other series. The author does an excellent job of creating a sense of realism, and the reader will feel as though they are right there alongside DCI Jack Logan as he edged closer to solving the case. In addition to racing the clock to locate the newest missing child, Connor, Jack has to acquaint himself with a new team of investigators. Firstly, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Hoon and Logan could ALMOST be the very same detective, if not for a few minor differences. Do police really stop cars out for a "Sunday drive" because they flash their lights at aggressive driving. DCI Logan, our hero, is definitely haunted by ghosts from the past, but in A Litter of Bones some of them are put to rest. While reading this 327-page book we learn nothing personal about him, except that he had a daughter somewhere.
