Starting off with Spider-Man: Remastered, there is not a major difference in average FPS, but the difference in %1 low is, in fact, quite significant. So the Ryzen 7 7700X takes a decent lead here. Far Cry 6 Far Cry 6 We feel that the Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM is an excellent addition to any value gaming rig or workstation, especially when paired with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU. Its voltage of 1.35 volts is around average for most DDR4 RAM. We saw that the high-quality aluminum heatsinks provide superior thermal management while giving the modules a sleek and premium appearance, and they do not interfere with the CPU cooler. Moreover, the RAM is optimized for AMD DDR4 motherboards, ensuring a smooth and dependable experience for users who want the best performance from their AMD processors. For the memory we've installed four DDR4-3200 modules into each board, resulting in a dual-rank, dual-channel CL14 configuration and a Radeon RX 6900 XT was used with SAM enabled. Benchmarks

Taking all those prices into account we get our entire platform cost which is relevant for those upgrading their platform or building a new PC. The more cores a CPU has, the more applications you can run simultaneously without noticing a performance impact. So this is something to keep in mind before you decide to choose between the two AMD CPUs. With that out of the way, let’s conclude the topic. Which One To Get? AMD claims this boosts performance by 15% on average over the Ryzen 9 5900X, which is no small feat. They also claim the 5800X3D is overall faster than Intel's i9-12900K while costing significantly less, so that'll be interesting to look at.GeekBench 5 shows the same pattern as the other productivity benchmarks, with the Ryzen 7 7700X being the better CPU. Handbrake 1.4.2 Benchmarks Handbrake Conversion Test Video codec acceleration (including at least the HEVC (H.265), H.264, VP9, and AV1 codecs) is subject to and not operable without inclusion/installation of compatible media players. GD-176 Today we're taking the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and installing it on a few different B350 and X370 motherboards to see if it works, and if it does, how well does it work? It's a simple test, but it's also kind of a big deal as these boards are now five years old, so the ability to successfully pair them with one of the most powerful gaming CPUs out there is something quite special. Based on our evaluation of using AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU for gaming, you can expect excellent game performance with a high-performance CPU cooler. This allowed the 5800X3D to match the 12900K when using the same DDR4-3200 memory, an impressive result. The DDR4-3800 configuration only improved performance by 5%, whereas the 12900K became 22% faster with DDR5-6400 memory.

Alternatively, if you want to max out your PC with the best memory, the Ryzen 5 7600X still looks to be the better option right now, typically delivering slightly better gaming performance while costing a little less. This could change once DDR5-7200 and faster memory becomes financially viable, but right now the premium for those is crazy. It's worth noting that this is a gaming focused CPU. We're sure there will be some productivity workloads that can benefit from the extra L3 cache, but AMD has refrained from giving any examples if they exist. Instead, AMD is 100% pushing this as a gaming CPU, and once you see the data it will make sense why there isn't a "5950X3D." In our Blender render test, the Ryzen 7 7700X takes another huge lead, finishing the render almost 4 minutes earlier. Corona 1.3 Corona 1.3Precision Boost Overdrive requires a compatible AMD Ryzen Threadripper, 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen processor, or AMD Ryzen 5000 Series processor and a motherboard compatible with one or more of these processors. AMD 2nd Ryzen processors including the Ryzen 3200G processor are not compatible with Precision Boost Overdrive. Because Precision Boost Overdrive enables operation of the processor outside of specifications and in excess of factory settings, use of the feature invalidates the AMD product warranty and may also void warranties offered by the system manufacturer or retailer. GD-135. My 5600x scores 9100 on Timepsy and 25800 on Firestrike physics tests and all I did was give it up to 125 watts (it uses much less in gaming related benchmarks, but sometimes it peaks at 125W) and undervolt by curve optimizer -20 all cores. That's 25% in TS, and 15% more in Firestrike. Again a familiar situation with less CPU-intensive games; there’s not much of a difference of note between Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 7 5800X3D here. Shadow of the Tomb Raider Shadow of The Tomb Raider So if you've got 2-3 years out of the Ryzen 5 3600 and are now able and willing to go all out on the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, how much of an upgrade is the fastest AM4 CPU for gaming? It turns out, a lot faster, as we just saw and for those running into CPU bound situations, the 5800X3D will solve that while seeing you out for at least the next 2-3 years. It's a small 5% margin, but that did make it 19% faster than the 5900X on average, so AMD's 15% claim is looking good.

Unlike the gaming benchmarks, the productivity benchmarks show that the Ryzen 7 7700X has a massive advantage. It’s easy to conclude that the Ryzen 7 7700X is the superior CPU by a margin for productivity tasks. Temperatures As you'd probably expect, the margins with the Radeon 6600 XT are greatly reduced, but even so at 1080p the 5800X3D was on average up to 24% faster, but then just 13% faster at 1440p. In Cyberpunk 2077, there’s a somewhat marginal performance difference between the two CPUs, with the Ryzen 7 7700X coming out on top again. F1 2022 F1 2021 Based on our evaluation of using AMD's Ryzen 5 5600X CPU for gaming, you can expect good game performance with a high-performance CPU cooler. The 5800X3D is a beast in the Factorio benchmark and here we see that X370 and B350 boards are capable of the same extreme performance seen on the latest and greatest X570 models. Another advantage of the 5800X3D is that it can be dropped into any AM4 motherboard that already supports Ryzen 5000 series processors, meaning inexpensive B450 boards do support this new CPU, though ideally you'd probably want a decent X570 board to justify spending so much on the processor. Watch Dogs Legion is a CPU demanding game and we see that while the 5600 was 14% faster than the 3600, the 5800X3D is up to 85% faster, pushing the average frame rate for the 6950 XT at 1080p out to 174 fps. We also saw over 70% performance gains in seven of the 23 games tested with most games showing over a 50% uplift, hence the 51% gain on average.

So without any further due, let’s dive into the gaming bechmarks of our Ryzen 7 5800X3D vs Ryzen 7 7700X guide. Spider-Man Remastered Spider Man: RemasteredAMD's marketing claim is that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is, on average, 15% faster than the Ryzen 9 5900X. The 3D V-Cache doesn't improve performance in all games, so this will vary, but we recorded a 21% increase over the 5900X at 1080p in our test suite, which is incredibly impressive.
