Katie has managed to capture the essence of what this group think and feel in a positive, life-affirming fashion. Katie has managed to capture the essence of what this group think and feel in a positive, life-affirming fashion. Read more Look Inside Details The first book in the hilarious new series for children by the bestselling creator of Hurrah For Gin. Perfect for fans of Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and Dork Diaries.

My 9-year-old daughter devoured it in two nights, and all I could hear from her was giggling and the occasional “Mum! Listen to this! This is SO me!”. Then Lottie meets new CRUSH Antoine. The language is a tiny bit of a barrier but does it matter when he's THAT good looking? raamat polnud paha, aga polnud tõesti ka üks neid lasteraamatuid, mis täiskasvanut sama palju kõnetaks. vahepeal ikka ei juhtunud lehekülgede kaupa midagi muud, kui et rulliti tiktokki ja söödi snäkke - ma saan aru, et (eel)teismelise jaoks unistuste elu, aga mul oli jube igav lugeda, oleks tahtnud kas mõnda sündmust või vähemalt mõnda mõtetki!

Retailers:

My daughter couldn’t put it down and read it in 2 days. Read at breakfast, walking downstairs, tea time, in the bath.

Her growth through the book is huge and she ends her diary with the message that you shouldn't do anything you don't want to do just because someone tells you to and actually it's okay to just be you. Which I think every preteen (or tween as some in my class like to be referred as!) needs to hear. She openly discusses what her body is going through (or not going through) during puberty and comparing it to everyone else. From an adult point of view, I liked how her mum talked about it with her and celebrated her changing body and didn't make her feel like it was something to feel shameful about. We need more body positive talk!

The book is primarily a tale about the pressures a young person feels as self-awareness, other people’s perception of you, and fitting in, becomes all-important. When she is caught by Charley, the most popular and prettiest girl, and the ‘influencer’ in school, rummaging through supermarket bins for perfectly good food, this is the lowest point in Laurie’s life. However, the ensuing conversation leads Charley to learn of Laurie’s ‘Beauty in the kitchen’ profile, where she promotes her natural skin-products she has made from fresh foods. These appear to be the perfect products to win the school’s enterprise competition and so Charley assumes Laurie’s co-operation and partnership, leaving Laurie to abandon her friends, who go it alone. A fortnight of compromising begins, all which places her on an uncomfortable and chaotic journey as she tries to keep pace with Charley and her manipulation, whilst losing out on her relationships with those that matter – her family and friends. aga kuna minu raamatukogus oli saadaval just see kolmas, haarasin ikka kaasa, et vähemalt saan siis praalida, et mul on loetud ja tal veel pole. siitpoolt küll erilist küpsust ei paista :P Lottie Brooks continues to navigate the many perils of growing up in this fantastically funny illustrated series for a 9-12 audience, filled with friendship, embarrassing moments and plenty of lols. So obviously, being in my 30s, I'm not the intended audience for the story of Lottie but I feel working in a primary school, especially in a year 6 class, gives me some insights into their mind. And I want to start this review by saying I think all year six girls should read this book before going to senior school. The message of this book is so important and I really think that age group need to hear it.

Lottie navigates the perils of growing up in this fantastically funny new illustrated series for pre-teens filled with friendship, embarrassing moments and, of course, KitKat Chunkys. But the trip soon turns into a total disaster. The other girls staying at the camp are MEGA-MEAN, best friend Jess is spending all her time with new girl Isha, and Lottie's diary gets stolen! We’ve put together a list of ten similar books for fans of Lottie Brooks.Readers who love stories about real-life themes of family and friendships could try Ella on the Outsideor Invisible Emmie. Those looking for another preteen illustrated diary series like Lottie Brooks might like the easy-to-read Accidental Diary of B.U.G or the humorous gentle fantasy series Diary of an Accidental Witch. For children who enjoyed the compelling first-person voice of Lottie Brooks’ narrative and her positive energy in the face of the everyday challenges of life, we recommend Raina Telgemeier’s graphic novel Smile or the Front Desk series– both of which are popular favourites among the 9-12 age group.
