Overall my kids, husband and I all agreed that the story is a fairly original twist on traditional mythology with a good moral lesson thrown in. I've overheard my kids telling their friends about it, saying that if they like books by Rick Riordan or Cressida Cowell then they'll also enjoy this one. This side-splitting tale, which contains an abundance of references to Norse mythology, is hugely entertaining from start to finish. After playing one trick too many, Loki, Norse god of mischief, is sent by Odin to live on earth as an 11-year-old boy.

After a series of 1-star reviews from his teachers, Loki is jealous of the glowing adoration bestowed upon Thor and swears vengeance. The tone of the book is fantastic and it reads smoothly, peppers with hilarious illustrations that clarify key moments within the tale. This book, like the others before, is perfect for the middle grade audience it is intended for, but any adult reader won’t be the least bit bored if they happen to take a peek between the covers, too.A ring that looks suspiciously like the cursed ring of Andvari, one that promises Loki the world if only he gives in to his deepest, darkest desires.

Having read the story myself, I had a good feeling that my Year 4 class (avid lovers of the classic 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid') would greatly enjoy this particular book. While on the surface it is a hilarious portrayal of a very frustrated Loki’s attempt to prove that he is not the monster everyone makes him out to be, it also contains many allusions to various stories throughout Norse Mythology. Loki is the series protagonist - the most chaotic god of Norse mythology, who has been banished to live on earth as a normal child who also has to go to school.Wickedly hilarious and subversively fun, Loki: A Bad God's Guide to Being Good is a laugh-out-loud delight with all the fabulously addictive weirdness of the original Norse mythology.

Norse mythology is deftly woven in, with enough explanations (and diagrams) that it would be understandable to someone completely new to it, but with plenty of references that will make those who do understand them chuckle.

It's funny, great illustrations, contains important life lessons and it's great to see lots of positive representations. Definitely one you must have on your bookshelves, Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to Ruling the World is my favourite in the series so far and my wife had to ask me to be quiet when I was reading as I was laughing so hard. LOKI A Bad God's Guide to Being Good has you chuckling at every page turn full of witty remarks and hilarious characters.

He is particularly enraged that he has to put up with Thor, who poses as his twin brother to keep an eye on him. Furious that he must suffer indignities such as attending school and doing chores, Loki struggles to be good.A quirky fantasy adventure in which a human boy and a Greek goddess accidentally release an immortal supervillain who is determined to take over the world - and maybe even the universe.
