Description

This quirky dwelling was a former bank and still retains some original features including the vault door and gate into what is now the kitchen/diner. For those looking to explore, you will find miles of walks upon the Peak District National Park, where you will find the Dovedale valley and the peak of Thorpe Cloud. As some have commented, the water in the ensuites was very hot... managed to get in for 'splash' but not to stand under for washing hair. All in all one of the best holidays we have had. Hope to make Lion House our home from home again in the future. The ground floor has been infilled with frameless structural glazing. The most prominent area of ground-floor glazing is the retail unit that sits under Centre Point Link. We wanted the link bridge to appear to float above the retail space. To achieve this appearance, the retail space required maximum transparency and minimum structure. This presented several challenges. We engineered frameless insulated glazing units that stand 5.5m tall without any metal support framing. Large structural movements from the existing 1960s structure had to be accommodated by the glass within very minimal head and base restraint details. When fixing the head details, we had to avoid any drilling into the high-strength steel tendons of the post-tensioned bridge structure above. The south façade features 5.5m-tall sliding doors, with 4m x 3m door leaves to give a full opening width of 12m. This required extensive testing for weather-tightness and cyclical testing of the moving mechanisms.

Yes, the main road out the front is very noisy, but you get used to it. The off road parking was plenty for 2 cars. Everything is in walking distance in the town. Friends Cafe does amazing cake! :) Beautiful accommodation in the heart of Ashbourne very handy for our Alton Towers trip we wish we would have been able to stay a further night to chill & take in the sights." There was plenty of space in the living and sleeping areas. The accomodation was top class and upto the usual Sykes standards. Freshen up in the bathroom on the first floor which houses a bath with an overhead shower, noticing the eye for detail in the lion motif within the basin.Half-way between London and Oxford is Lion House, a converted coaching inn in beautiful condition, which is on the market for the fifth time in more than two centuries.

There is a cloakroom in addition to the 3 bathrooms. There is a notebook to write any housekeeping points - which we completed for the cleaners for next guests- a few niggles..

Even after a major victory over the Hungarians at Mohacs, the vassal rulers left by Ibrahim have dubious loyalties and the ultimate goal -- Vienna, home of Suleyman's great rival, Charles V of Spain -- remains out of reach.Spend your dreamy break to Dartmoor at Lion House, part of the Helpful Holidays collection of properties.

Pell Frischmann has undertaken significant design changes to Centre Point House and Centre Point Link to enhance the new public spaces. Using modern analysis techniques, we were able to reassess existing columns and justify the removal of two entire floorplates at mezzanine and first mezzanine levels to create new double-height retail space. In addition, to enhance the value of existing spaces, we have created more accessible and usable space by adding several lifts and stairs and extending the basement to make room for plant areas and tanks. All the works had to be carried out while residents inhabited the upper floors of Centre Point House. It had everything we needed and more... the location was great for exploring the Peak District. It was warm, even despite what the weather tried to do!!!

And its transformation of St Giles High Street into St Giles Square completes the whole development; tying the various buildings together into a tranquil, south-facing public space – the first new public square in the West End for years. As the Crossrail works complete and traffic-calming measures are introduced on Tottenham Court Road, Centre Point and St Giles will finally take their place at the true heart of London, in a space for everyone to enjoy.
