When children are familiar with the rhyme, invite them to join in, for example with sound effects such as ‘vroom vroom.’ If they know it very well, they might join in all the way through as you read or sing the rhyme. Lovely, bold illustrations give us lots of things to talk about and singing the melody of a well-known tune is an excellent idea! If you want to put toys or teddies in the car, cut a big square out of the top of the box. Make sure this step is done very carefully by an adult.
