Cut a long strip of paper and fold it concertina style. Draw a snowman on the top rectangle of the concertina, making sure the snowman's hands are touching the edges. These look great on the mantlepiece, as a table decoration or as the Christmas tree in a doll's house.

To do a large batch of colored cotton balls I suggest making a whole pan of the same color at a time to make the process as easy as possible, you may want to use a larger spray bottle if so.To make your snowman's face, glue on buttons for eyes (take care if you have smaller children that they don't put buttons in mouths!) and cut out the carrot nose from a piece of orange felt. Christmas crafts don't get easier than this. Cut some twigs into different lengths, each just a little bigger than the next. This is a great Christmas craft to keep for years to come. Try using felt pens instead of paint, or glue on wool hair and fabric clothing. Remember that dying cotton balls, or working with food coloring in general, can be super messy, so make sure that you are doing this where animals, and little ones, aren’t going to get into it and make a bigger, stain-causing, mess all over your house.*

Fold the first of these sections to the front. Then fold the second section to the front. You'll be left with a shape that looks a bit like an ice cream cone. Kids can paint them different colours or dip them in watered-down PVA glue and sprinkle on or dip them in biodegradable glitter for an even more Christmassy vibe. You can buy polystyrene cones very cheaply from craft stores or make your own cones from cardboard to use as a base. These napkin holders are a great way to combine getting crafty and planning the Christmas Day table setting. Get them to place their hands in brown paint and press onto paper. You can then add a red nose and eyes to make a fun Rudolph picture. Mix the water and dye. You have the option of combining these two materials in a bowl or a spray bottle.
