It excels in providing a barefoot-like experience while still offering adequate protection and grip. Teva is one of the indisputable leaders of the humble sandal, taking what is often thought to be a simple piece of footwear and pushing what it can be to the point that sandal enthusiasts such as yours truly can be reluctant to take them off come the colder months. Their silhouettes are certainly iconic having been around now for over 40 years, their quality is next to none and of course, the durability of Teva sandals certainly lives up to its reputation. Having worked in the Exeter shop for almost 3 years, I have met more than a few people with Teva sandals that have lasted upwards of 20 years! Though this isn’t guaranteed for everyone depending on many things, these very impressed sandal owners certainly added up. For a piece of outdoor walking footwear, even those only used for half the year, this is nigh-on unheard of and not what you’d expect from strappy sandals, but that’s Teva!

The Hurricane XLT 2 boasts a more substantial build with cushioned soles and secure straps, prioritizing comfort. The only downside I could find in terms of comfort was that the initial break-in period for the Teva Hurricane XLT2 was slightly longer than expected. While they were comfortable overall, it took a few wears for the strap system to fully adjust to my foot shape. 6. Weight The upper of the Terra Fi 4 is made out of leather for a more durable experience. Although it won’t do well with water, it’s ideal for hiking and everyday wear. There are three hook and loop straps, allowing you to get the best possible fit for your foot shape. This pair of sandals is also treated with Microban zinc that helps eliminate and prevent bad odors. However, the Teva Hurricane XLT had a slightly sturdier construction overall. While the Teva Hurricane XLT 2 is still sturdy, some users might prefer the older version’s robustness for a more demanding trail. How Does it Compare with Other Products? Teva Terra Fi 5 Universal Good footwear is easy to maintain and clean. Teva shoes don’t require a lot of expensive shoe treatments or time-consuming upkeep. Shoes that need a lot of effort, time and money to maintain, don’t sell as well as shoes which are easier and cost less to keep.The legend has it that the founder, who was a river guide, invented the brand by attaching some Velcro straps to a pair of old flip-flops so they wouldn't float away in the Grand Canyon River. This happed in the 80s, and since then the brand has followed the same philosophy in making footwear for the outdoors. The Original model is a classic and follows the same design as those flip-flops made by the river guide. They look like regular flip flops with the signature thong, but the difference is the ankle strap that is anchored to the sole by two straps on both sides. The Teva products generally run true to size. The shoe sizing chart provided by the manufacturer was reliable, and the sandals fit me well based on my usual shoe size. These sandals also have multiple straps to anchor your feet to make sure your feet aren't slipping out of them on your walks. No part is made of leather, so they are 100% vegan. The textile that makes the straps are not coarse, and they also latch onto each other easily for easy slipping on and off.

Additionally, while the Teva Hurricane XLT2 offers ample support for moderate and light hikes if you are engaging in more intense or technical terrain, you might require shoes with higher levels of protection. 8. Fit and Sizing The Teva fully padded three-point strap adjustment system allows a custom, fine tuning fit with supreme comfort and a nylon shank provides the much needed support over undulating and sometimes unstable terrain so you can be confident that your feet are secure and in control. A built in ShocPadis located under heel and forms part of themidsole to provide durable comfort and reduces impact forces from hard ground and prolonged trekking. And if your feet don't smell like roses, they have incorporated theMicrobanZinc based anti-microbial protection to protect against bad smells. The only complaint I have is that in dusty or sandy environments, the open design of the Teva Hurricane XLT2 allows small particles to enter. While this didn’t significantly impact their overall performance, it required occasional cleaning to maintain optimal breathability. 5. ComfortBy featuring more padding in the heel area and a contoured footbed, the Teva Hurricane XLT 2 provided excellent alignment, reducing strain on my heel and promoting proper posture. Built with a contoured EVA soft footbed, the Teva Hurricane XLT 2 sandal can be very comfortable during long expeditions. The Velcro straps, made from soft and adjustable polyester, hugged my foot securely without causing any discomfort or chafing. Spring is here! As of the time I am writing this, it is raining, alas! But just as they say that rain is inevitable, so is the sunshine. Whether you enjoy long hikes over rough paths on hot days, paddling along beautiful rivers, or dawdling your way across vast beaches, there is something just so so good about a decent pair of sandals. Additionally, the new strap system in the Teva Hurricane XLT 2 provides a more customized foot fit and improved stability than the previous version.

One aspect worth noting, though, is that the Velcro closure system on the straps may show signs of wear over time. I appreciated the ability to fine-tune the heel strap to my preference, whether it was a snug fit for more challenging trips or a looser one for casual walks. These are the best buy for a person constantly on the move.Compared to the Teva Hurricane XLT2 sandal, the Cairn Adventure sandal offers a more minimalist feel and is lighter in weight.
