The Grateful Flow - When you are filled with worry, self-hatred, or negative-thinking. List at least 5 things you are grateful for, including things you may take for granted, then feel the physical sensation of gratefulness.

I'm logging my notes here tbh mainly for me if ever I lose my notes somehow, at least I still have a reference here. but hey something might interest you, I suggest you read this or watch Stutz. PHIL: We can joke about therapy taking 30 years, but most therapists really want to be helpful. I only ask you to try The Tools and observe. Active Love: Uses the force of Outflow to dissolve your sense of unfairness so you can break free of the maze of ruminative thoughts and allow yourself to accept what (and who) is.From the international bestselling authors of THE TOOLS and GOOP’s resident psychotherapists comes a ground-breaking new book to help us overcome the side of us that is destructive and negative to find a deep level of happiness and fulfilment.

So I'm feeling a lot of cognitive dissonance about my favorable review of this wonderful and problematic and wonderful book. But the good news is, there's even a tool for dealing with cognitive dissonance. BRING ON THE PAIN! (You'll have to read the book to know what that means). Each of these tools involves visualization through which you can see immediate results, but they're really meant to be practiced regularly until they become habits for life. Even though it took me just about a week to take my time with The Tools on Kindle, I liked it so much I actually bought a physical version too to properly study and highlight.

Tap into the life force to deepen your emotional and spiritual experience and realize your full potential with this transformative book by the New York Times bestselling authors of The Tools(and the resident shrinks on Goop). So what are the Tools? Conceptually, Stutz describes each of them as a simple step, an action or a bit of forward motion. They can change your inner state almost immediately, according to Stutz, taking unpleasant experiences and thoughts and transforming them into opportunities. Stutz says his Tools “turn problems [in]to possibilities,” and give people the propulsive feeling that they can make big changes. In practice, the Tools are visualization exercises. In Stutz, each Tool is accompanied by cards with hand-drawn illustrations that, according to Stutz, render even the biggest, most complicated concepts into something manageable. The tools Barry and Phil teach in Coming Alive gave me the courage and clarity to align myself with the truth—no matter how hard or painful it seemed at the time.”—Gwyneth Paltrow

There is something indescribably beautiful about living life in integrity. The tools Barry and Phil teach in Coming Alive gave me the courage and clarity to align myself with the truth—no matter how hard or painful it seemed at the time. It’s an incredibly fulfilling and meaningful way to live.” —Gwyneth Paltrow Can't recommend it enough - like Eugene Gendlin's book "Focusing" it moves psychology away from speculation and into real life. Instead of offering yet another new way to chart or understand someone's inner life, it offers a simple and practical way to grips with and overcome difficult, frightening or debilitating emotional states. The emphasis is always on immediate and felt change. Active Love: A way to quell anger, prevent yourself perseverating on injustice, or prepare yourself for confronting a difficult person PHIL: This is not a curative approach that says, let's get rid of the problem and go on living. Instead, the problem itself is the foundation of creating meaning in your life. You start to see that problems are meaningful. Drawing insights from their decades of psychotherapeutic practice, their lived experience, and their moving and generous understanding of our interconnectedness, Michels and Stutz have created a paradigm-shifting guide to achieving optimal mental health and spiritual well-being.

It doesn't matter what an institution or an authority tells you about the spiritual world. What matters is what you can experience for yourself.” They have added things inside the book that will connect you with the Tools to help. Phil has added his own life experience, stories, triumphs, and failures so that people can know how to use the Tools in their lives to get better results. Phil has also added some facts about his spiritual approach that helps him bring things outs and heal inside.

view problems as "portals to enter the world of untapped potential" and see problems' purpose as primary avenues to growth Jeopardy, or how to remind yourself to actually use the other four tools by keeping the consequences of future regret and squandered opportunity squarely in your awareness.Active Love, or how to escape loops of revenge and feelings of injustice by tapping into a much greater force and using it to rid oneself of toxicity. Really useful after getting riled up on social media. That being said, I understand that the majority of people in the world have a very different point of view. As a therapist I'm willing to meet anybody where they are at. If sprinkling in a little new age sparkle helps the medicine go down, and helps the client find empowerment and make healthy life changes, then by all means, let's bust out the healing flavor crystals. PHIL: Yes. I didn't think of it when I was doing it, but I was bringing some of the urgency, some of the immediacy from the streets into the realm of psychotherapy. On Riker's Island, if a corrections officer was good, he could command a large group of inmates not by reasoning with them but with the vibe that he could give off. The guys who couldn't generate these forces couldn't get any respect. JOHN: Why, as a young psychiatrist, were you so interested in challenging traditional psychotherapeutic models? By combining 60 years of hands-on working experience using the elements of Jungian psychology with the kind of practical approach found in Ellis' Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Psychiatrist Phil Stutz and Psychotherapist Barry Michels have designed an innovative approach to help clients suffering from Depression, Anxiety, Insecurities, Past Hurts and Difficult Problems find Innovative & Spiritual Solutions. They believe that Traditional Time-Proven Therapy – which though effective, focuses too extensively on the causes of the problem and not on finding a permanent solution.
