Because nothing is ever his fault, your narcissistic husband is usually the “ victim” of others’ actions. If his project at work failed, he will blame it on his boss, co-worker, or clients. He constantly has a victim mentality because he cannot look at his own actions and see that he is responsible [2] . 10. He Doesn’t Feel Guilt Bob Mortimer wins 2023 Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction with The Satsuma Complex Because he is incapable of feeling empathy, he almost enjoys seeing you in pain – either emotionally or physically. It gives him a sense of power over you. He also feels absolutely no guilt when he inflicts pain on you. What You Can Do If You Have a Narcissistic Husband This is another winner from a very talented author and someone whose books I will always want to read.

I hate to say it, but you can’t really change a narcissistic husband. In fact, you really can’t change anyone. They have to want to change, and if they don’t, they won’t.But now she has decided to walk away from it all - including divorcing her husband, Wallace - before her past secrets catch up with her. Although this is a clever, multi layered slow burner there are some jaw to the floor reveals with information bombs that explode your expectations and opinions of certain characters. There is plenty of tension and suspenseful moments and some well thought out plot twists as it builds to a very good ending.

Whether it’s something simple like what you want to do on a Saturday night or something major like which house to buy, your narcissistic husband probably doesn’t really listen to your opinion. He might pretend to, but then he does whatever he wants to anyway, regardless of what you think. 3. He Needs to Be Right Every Time He might say or do things to you that are very hurtful. Maybe you caught him doing something like texting another woman. Even after you catch him, he won’t feel any guilt at all. He’ll shrug it off like it’s no big deal, and tell you to just get over it. 11. He Lies If this scenario sounds familiar to you, then your husband probably has narcissistic traits (or could even be a full-blow narcissist). He thinks he knows everything. You could tell him that 2 + 2 = 4, but he would argue with you and say, “No, 2 + 2 = 5.” Meanwhile, you’re scratching your head wondering how he thinks he could possibly be right. But he doesn’t really care what the truth is; he just needs to “win” and be right. 4. He Controls You Dystopian Fiction Books Everyone Should Read: Explore The Darker Side of Possible Worlds and Alternative FuturesI didn’t know what to expect from this book, I really had no clue what would happen and how it would end. The plot was unique and unpredictable, and the twist at the end which I completely did not see coming. I have to admit the start of the book is confusing, you’re thinking how it’s going to play out but also what’s going to happen. The subtle hints build up near the end resulting in a twist which I didn’t expect. But gradually as you read the book, it becomes clearer and less confusing. It’s not really until the end of the book where it makes sense. As Cleo drafts the final ever episodes of the series, people she knows start getting hurt. And it's soon clear that someone is trying to frame her for murder. We’re all capable of terrible things. That’s part of what makes us human. That’s part of what makes walking away from others so difficult. We spend a lot of time categorising people, while forgetting that very few of us sit in these categories neatly and stay there – we all fit into multiple categories. And in the capable-of-terrible-things category, very many of us fit.” It’s been a while since I’ve read a full book in one day but this was literally in my hand for the whole day.

He probably goes around telling everyone about all of his “great” accomplishments. He wants people to think he is better than they are, and that includes you – especially you. 2. He Doesn’t Listen to Your Opinion Slowly, he became critical and controlling. Everything was all about him, and he didn’t care how you felt or what you thought. Slowly, the man you met just disappeared before your eyes. From the Queen of the Big Reveal... filled with chills, twists that make this the pacey domestic noir read You can always tell when a writer doesn’t care. All the words, no matter how pretty, no matter how clever, if they don’t come from the heart, they mean nothing. They fall flat. You can always tell.” Cleo Forsum is a bestselling novelist turned scriptwriter whose TV series, ‘The Baking Detective’ is a huge success. Writing is all she’s ever wanted to do, and baking and murder stories have proved a winning combination.

She thinks she knows why, but Cleo can’t tell the police or prove her innocence. Because then she’d have to confess about her other husband . . . Cleo who is a series writer of a TV series, yet people were getting hurt around her and guess what! It ties in with episodes of her series. This was a totally engrossing tale of past crimes and control, and tension and suspense are in plentiful supply. With very strong and expertly drawn characters I found myself invested in them all the way through, though there were some necessary distasteful ones. I have read several of Dorothy Koomson's other novels, including The Ice Cream Girls, The Brighton Mermaid and Tell Me Your Secret, and this novel, My Other Husband is just as good. Great unpredictable storytelling and well-worth five stars. I was absolutely delighted to learn that Dorothy Koomson, one of my top ten, or quite possibly even my top five favourite authors had written a new novel. My Other Husband is a top-notch read.

But now she has decided to walk away from it all – including divorcing her husband, Wallace – before her past secrets catch up with her.Cleo and Heath. A very toxic relationship while Heath moves on to another woman while Cleo leaves him. Even that is proving difficult. Dorothy Koomson is on formidable form. In My Other Husband, she crafts a richly textured thriller that simmers with a sense of menace. Clever, unnerving and utterly compulsive, the final few chapters left me breathless Usually, being in a library space, with the books and the atmosphere they created, acted like a shield to protect me from the excesses of being around other people. They absorbed the nonsense and made me not mind as much if they went off on random tangents that were nothing to do with me.” However, as time moves on and Heath is still there in Cleo’s life, she does fall for him, and at first they are deliriously happy. Heath is really nothing at all as we first imagine, and as his behaviour becomes increasingly out of control, and his jealousy and paranoia increases, his actions have such a profound effect on Cleo.
