Description

The Ring Video Doorbell has two versions, 1st and 2nd Generation. The mounting process is essentially the same for both but the mounting plate configuration is different.

The solution in this case is to once again use a Wedge Kit to lower the angle of your Video Doorbell. Both of these situations require the use of a Wedge Kit to properly angle your Ring Video Doorbell to catch the motions you want while avoiding the motions you don't. This article will briefly explain how your Ring Video Doorbell sees the world and how to use your Wedge Kit.

Ring Video Doorbell 3 and Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus Wedge Kit Corner Kits for different Ring Doorbells

If you have another kind of Ring Doorbell, you'll need a Wedge Kit or Corner Kit that is specifically designed for that doorbell. The installation process of the Wedge Kit and Corner Kit is essentially the same for all the Ring Doorbells. To install a wedge kit, screw it into your wall through the two holes in the middle. Then mount your Ring Video Doorbell 2. If you are mounting your Ring Video Doorbell on cladding, a Wedge Kit will properly angle your doorbell. Second, through a network of "PIR" or passive infrared sensors that your Ring Video Doorbell uses for motion detection. In the illustration below you can see that the motion sensors have a much more focused field-of-view than the camera and that this view is pointed downward to catch motion (as much as possible) within 1.5 to 5 metres of your Video Doorbell and exclude motion sources outside that range. The Wedge Kit is an optional accessory used to angle your Ring Video Doorbell 2 down five degrees. If you installed your Ring Video Doorbell 2 higher than the optimal installation height of four feet off the ground, the Wedge Kit can improve your view. It can also reduce motion events from passing traffic and ensure you capture approaching visitors if your Ring Video Doorbell 2 is up a staircase, installed on angled siding, or facing a busy street.

To install a Corner Kit, simply screw it into your wall through the two holes in the middle. Afterwards, mount your Ring Video Doorbell 2 to the mount. Your Ring Video Doorbell 4 "sees" the world in two ways. First through a camera that has a very wide view of the world as illustrated below: The corner mount is an optional accessory used to angle your Ring Video Doorbell 2 by 15 degrees left or right, away from the wall. If you installed your Ring Video Doorbell 2 on a corner or adjacent wall, the corner mount can improve motion detection and view. How to install a Corner Mount Note: If you need to use a wedge kit and a corner mount together, install the wedge kit on top of the corner mount, and then to the wall before attaching your Ring Doorbell. Different mounts have different measurements. Make sure to get the right mounting accessory for the Ring video doorbell model you have. What is a Wedge Kit? If your house has cladding, you'll need to take the angle of the siding into account when mounting your Ring Video Doorbell 4. As illustrated below, mounting the Ring Video Doorbell 4 on siding will point the Video Doorbell up, making it much more likely to catch passing traffic than the heat of visitors.
