For those that are unaware, each Classic Space minifigure colour denotes a specific role that each Spaceman specialises in:

Lastly, Classic Space was also filled with all sorts of Robots, and you piece together a small but charming little Spacebot. I really love the use of the trans-yellow cheese slope on its body. This space toy for kids includes 4 new-for-January-2019 THE LEGO® MOVIE 2™ minifigures: Benny, Lenny, Jenny and Kenny Here’s a look at the Yellow and White Classic Space Minifigures, named Kenny and Jenny respectively. It would also make sense to have a successor to Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship SPACESHIP which was one of THE standout sets of the 1st LEGO Movie. The set comes with a small spaceship, which is a great homage to the forms and aesthetics of Spaceships from the Classic Space Era with its triangular shape.

I’d just recently run across that info too, but it didn’t feel like it matches what I’d read before, so I dug up the Exo-Suit interview:

Robot

Four astronauts are included, the first of whom is Benny. This delightful character made a tremendous impression during The LEGO Movie and I am delighted to see him return, sporting a blue helmet with a broken chin strap and matching air tanks. The worn Classic Space emblem on his torso looks excellent and the minifigure's double-sided head features two different expressions which convey a great deal of personality. There isn’t a great deal to say about the minifigures that you can’t already see, the colour being the only defining feature on the minifigures. That said, they do come equipped with different accessories. Benny comes with an alternate face, with a dismayed expression – he’s the only one with an alternate face in this set. Features a THE LEGO MOVIE 2 spaceship toy with a minifigure seat and a lunar buggy with 2 minifigure seats. And I distinctly remember also reading that white and red, the _original_ two colors from before the days of printed torsos, were intended to represent American astronauts and Russian cosmonauts. So there’s clearly some internal disagreement on exactly what the colors mean.

The piece numbers on this set are extremely low, at less than 70, but let’s face it, you’re not buying this set for the rudimentary builds, this is very much about the minifigures on offer. Aren’t they glorious? Benny’s Space Squad is made up of a colourful collection of clones with similar names, Jenny, Kenny, and Lenny and with the exception of their colour you can’t tell them apart. https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/4314aa28-9ce8-445a-9ee0-72bf1e5088a4

This space toy for kids includes 4 new-for-January-2019 THE LEGO MOVIE 2 minifigures: Benny, Lenny, Jenny and Kenny. See above for a comparison of an original Classic Space blue minifigure in very good condition, one that has lots of wear on it (notice the white moon), Benny from The LEGO Movie 1 and lastly, Benny from The LEGO Movie 2. Lenny wears a brand new pink uniform which looks marvellous! Only five different colours appeared during the original Classic Space series and a green version became available with 21109 Exo Suit in 2014. This pink design is therefore a welcome addition to the range, featuring the familiar emblem and some air tanks which look perfect when integrated with older figures. Perhaps additional colours will be introduced in the movie! A single trans-yellow 1x2 plate forms the headlight which is charming in its simplicity and I like the basic steering wheel for the same reason. Lunar buggies produced during the earliest years of Classic Space always included red wheels and that might have been an interesting feature here, although light bluish grey wheel hubs are more consistent with the broader colour scheme so probably look slightly better. There are only 68 pieces in this set, so, of course, it’s not about the complexity of the builds or any extravagant building solutions. This section of the review could have been easily omitted if it wasn’t for the set’s outstanding concept and incredible vibes. Yours truly is just a 25-year-old AFOL, who never got any of the LEGO Classic Space sets from the late 70’s into the 80’s. And once I opened the bags, I realised these are the very same pieces and minifigures I’ve seen for so many years in other people’s creations! And now I have not just one, not two, but four amazing minifigures (even a pink one!) as well as a bunch of pieces to create my own spaceships and rovers.
