Description

The St Clare's Collection by Enid Blyton is a series of novels that follow the adventures of two sisters, Pat and Isabel O'Sullivan, as they attend St Clare's boarding school. The series, which was first published in 1941, has become a beloved classic of children's literature, offering readers a delightful and nostalgic look at school life in post-war England. In 1920, Blyton moved to Chessington and began writing in her spare time. The following year, she won the Saturday Westminster Review writing competition with her essay "On the Popular Fallacy that to the Pure All Things are Pure". [13] Publications such as The Londoner, Home Weekly and The Bystander began to show an interest in her short stories and poems. As in our own schools there are some extremely talented students at St Clare's and you will be amazed by their prowess. There is a class-clown and a brilliant one at that. You'll meet her. Pat and Isabel even attend an enormous birthday supper which includes such delicacies as sardines, a pork pie, a cake with almond icing surrounded with sugar-roses, peppermint creams, and to make it more exciting it takes place at 12a.m — (yes a.m) and it's all strictly against the rules but who cares?

You notice it more if you are reading all the books one after the other. I think, but I may be misremembering, than in Malory Towers Enid Blyton handles it slightly better, for example not giving Gwendoline her big character growth until the end. Her love of tennis included playing naked, with nude tennis "a common practice in those days among the more louche members of the middle classes". "The Mystery of Enid Blyton's Revival". BBC News Magazine . Retrieved 10 April 2014.Today, Enid Blyton remains one of the most beloved and influential authors in the world of children's literature. Her books continue to inspire and delight readers of all ages, and her legacy lives on through the many adaptations and spin-offs that have been created over the years. Gwen did try to alter herself a bit, so that she wouldn't be like Maureen. She stopped her silly laugh and her wide, false smile. She stopped talking about herself too. In German Language the series was named "Hanni & Nanni" and received ample changes in names, places and characteristics resembling more to the German taste. Up to date 39 books have been published, with only episodes 1-4, 11 and 13 basing on Blyton's originals, Parts 19 and 20 are adapted from Pamela Cox' editions Third Form at St. Clare's and Sixth Form at St. Clare’s. Cox's third book Kitty at St Clare’s has not yet been adapted. Ellis-Petersen, Hannah (21 October 2014), "Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree series inspires new film", The Guardian The Twins at St Clare's is a children's novel by Enid Blyton set in an English girls' boarding school. It is the first of the original six novels in the St. Clare's series of school stories. [1] First published in 1941, it tells the story of twin sisters Pat and Isabel O'Sullivan in their first term at a new school. [2] They meet many new friends.

Janet, a sarcastic and blunt student, leads the year in a series of pranks against their new History teacher Miss Kennedy, who is a very timid and insecure though highly qualified. After Miss Roberts arrives and immediately understands her as the culprit, but the twins take the blame as well, gaining respect. Afterwards, the girls organise a secret midnight feast, and are caught, but Miss Kennedy pretends to not have noticed anything.
