I read a review saying the gameboy games in general were better than any console versions at the time. Many of the dungeons are irritatingly laid out or disorientating, and being sent back to the start happens far too often. The Game Boy Advance version, along with the Game Boy Color and PlayStation versions, was designed with input from Harry Potter author J.

The game can best be described as a puzzle platformer loosely based on the film version of the first Harry Potter book. Following a strong introduction sequence, it's quickly down to the action in the Game Boy Advance version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone .Similar to in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, different versions of this game were produced for the different platforms. They're full fledged classic Final Fantasy-Style RPGs, they have amazing exploration, addictive gameplay-loop, very satisfying turn-based combat, fun mini games and cool collectibles! The game is visually really good, with characters looking noticeably alike their realities, and it's also great that you can wander up to any student when roaming the grounds and they have a comment. Along with the school and its grounds, you'll explore Diagon Alley, Privet Drive, the Forbidden Forest, and more. While the visuals and faithfulness to the novel were praised, the gameplay was criticized as shallow and repetitive.

Tim Wapshott of The Times gave the game a score of four stars out of five and stated, "The game remains faithful to the spirit of the book, but it is perhaps a little too linear and predictable. While it tries to cover all angles of the plot, it does mean that some segments of the game lack a little polish, and aren't always that enjoyable. The game is viewed from a top-down perspective, [2] and Harry can explore his environment and communicate with other characters. The trio can combine magical spells into one almighty incantation, providing the raw power to overcome otherwise impenetrable hazards. In addition to playing as the titular character Harry, the game also allows the player to control Hermione and Ron, as well as fly Buckbeak, and control Harry's pet owl, Hedwig. To Harry's surprise, Professor Quirinus Quirrell stands in the final room trying to extract the Philosopher's Stone from the Mirror of Erised. Some scenes do not look quite right – the scale of the characters against the width of the Hogwarts Express clearly do not tally. All three are excellent---not flawless by any means, but very well executed for the handheld market. Too wrong I was: you begin the came by attending your first defence against the dark arts lesson and then once your spell is learnt you do a tricky challenge.

After your payment has been processed, the content will be downloaded to the applicable system linked to the respective Nintendo Account, or respective Nintendo Network ID in the case of Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family systems. In some segments, Harry partakes in the game of Quidditch, in which he flies on a broomstick and must locate and catch a Golden Snitch fluttering about the arena.Take the wheel of a flying car and don't be late for a second term at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets . Nintendo Power was pleased by the variety of quests, and approved of the difficulty and level of detail. The animations are decent for the time, but any battles with enemies are too shortlived or frustrating to enjoy when compared to the RPG stylings of the Game Boy Colour release.

What if you could leave the nonmagical world of the Muggles behind and enrol in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? Those facts make Prisoner of Azkaban a great game for younger kids, and it's a lot of fun for less-discriminating older fans of Harry Potter too. Harris remarked that "it's almost as if the artists actually digitized [ Harry Potter actor] Alan Rickman in his deadpan stroll for his game representation". Assuming that Snape is trying to obtain the Philosopher's Stone for Voldemort, Harry, Ron, and Hermione pass through the trapdoor and traverse obstacles put in place by the school's professors, but ultimately only Harry can proceed. If anyone can tell me how to finish the task please tell me because I can't bear trying any more, and the game is now gathering dust. The Game Boy Advance version was released with the other two versions in North America on November 16, 2001, and in Europe on November 23.
