You can see how Guts shifts from a mercenary who does not care about dying to care about his comrades and trying to find his dream. I am just blown away by the consistent and excellent artwork, and also how well and carefully he draws out and executes the story.

Miura's attention throughout is well deserved and perhaps at his peak with this volume, though he still relies on "evil people are ugly" within the world with one or two exceptions.The first three volumes serve as an interlude to help prepare you for the atrocities to come and may seem somewhat underwhelming in terms of plot, but believe me when I say the payoff is highly rewarding and memorable.

A spirit then possesses Farnese and forces her to act out her lust by straddling Guts until sunrise. The Lost Children arc feels a bit underwhelming in a few areas compared to the shocking finale of the Golden Age arc, but the ending of this arc finishes with quite a few shockers of its own to bring back the hype and despair of the series.I like this series because it has a very good balance of supernatural elements and character interactions.
