Poison Carnage looks like a DOOM Cyberdemon, since because Cletus Kasady didn't have his Carnage symbiote when the Poisons abducted him. The symbiote's prison was transported to Battleworld by the Beyonder, where it was unwittingly freed by Spider-Man, who it bonded to - taking on the appearance of a black costume.

Later this summer, Absolute Carnage will draw every one of Marvel's symbiotes into one massive upcoming crossover. Although the man within wasn’t strong enough to expel the symbiote, he was able to sabotage his own multiverse-destroying plans via sacrificing his own life, all the while begging for forgiveness for all the horrors he committed.While the symbiotes will be targeting most of the Marvel Universe soon, Venom and his multiverse counterparts were the targets in last year's Venomized crossover, by Cullen Bunn, Iban Coello, Kevin Libranda and Matt Yackey.

The editor Devin Lewis described it as "the biggest Venom story of all time", and it intended to make Venom an important character in the Marvel universe.Bunn pointed that most of the other main characters were selected because they would seem unexpected hosts of the symbiote. Just like Deadpool in Venomverse however, Cletus' insanity allows him to retain control even after being infected. While the Poisons marked heavy hitters like Spider-Man and Thor for reaping, two characters stood aside as high value targets: Kid Kaiju and Carnage. However, the war made the poisons aware of the multiverse, and they decide to explore alternate dimensions on their own. Before it turned Eddie Brock into a box office giant, the symbiote made for a badass variant look for Spider-Man that still holds up to this day.
