Description

Vilo’s design is minimal and doesn’t take up a ton of space, and even though you’re limited to a white housing, they’re not going to distract from your home’s decor, even if you have to place one of the access points on an end table. Using Google’s built-in speed test, I measured throughput in three areas of the house. I then compared it to the Netgear Orbi RBR40, with a router and single satellite. Using my 400Mbps broadband connection, I achieved speeds of 347Mbps over Wi-Fi next to the main router via the Orbi, and 415Mbps using Vilo. Using the T-Mobile signal as a source, Vilo’s throughput maxed out at 146Mbps next to the router. Those are represented as the “baseline” figures in the chart, below. Edit: All my issues are about to be solved or already have been. After a lot more testing everything has been going very smoothly. Just waiting for Static IP to be added, and then it's a done deal. Running multiple speed tests, only once did we see results break 100 Mbps when connected to the Vilo’s network, and that was immediately after rebooting the main Vilo node. Otherwise it averaged over 90 Mbps. We’re also testing the Wi-Fi 6-capable Plume SuperPods right now, and during the same speed test that broke 100 Mbps, the SuperPods hit speeds over 560 Mbps.

You can set the ip range, dhcp reservation, port forwarding. but that's about it. The parental control are device specific. If you’re looking to do any sort of more advanced setup (manual IP assignment for example, which is not CURRENTLY supported) then you might want to go for something else. In the end, you're getting a fairly robust mesh system that's easy to use at an incredible price. Provided you don’t need to dig into the minutiae of your internet setup and tweak settings, the Vilo mesh system might be one of the easiest ways to ditch that crappy router your ISP rents out to you. Easy Clip Edit] Clip edits like trim, split, speed, reverse, rearrangement and adding additional images or videos are all easy to handle. Oh I also forgot mention the excellent customer service from Eva Wu. She was amazing during all the beta experience. Vilo Consulting has created a really unique and thought-provoking offering with these masterclasses. The combination of Lorna’s professional and relaxed style, coupled with Emily’s engaging and charismatic nature, meant this was one of the best team sessions we have ever had… and it was all virtual! They push you to explore and then challenge your own thinking, behaviour and virtual presence, with simple yet high effective tools, hints and tips. Thank you very much, and I would absolutely recommend it to other businesses.”

Vilo has one of the most responsive and nicest teams I’ve talked too. If I have any problems whatsoever there seems to be a huge community of people to help out. Great company all around. By far, this is one of the easiest mesh setups we’ve tested, thanks to all of the units already being paired and ready to connect to one another. Other systems require you to use the app to add more mesh units to your network, extending the amount of time it takes to get your system up and running. The Vilo 6 offers all the features most people would ever need, but without the cost and complexity of the other products on the market. I am a huge fan and I can't wait to see what you come out with next.

The coverage, as we’ve seen, might also not be as thorough as routers using more modern technology. Wi-Fi 6, and especially Wi-Fi 6e, offer other benefits, too. If you’ve already invested in a Wi-Fi 6 network, we wouldn’t try and convince you to rip it out and replace with a Vilo system. So all and all, it does what you need, simplistic network- but for folks, not geeks like me, it's really nice.I have been through A LOT of routers of various brands over the past 15 years (Netgear, Asus, DLink, Linksys…) and used to do internet installs for a wireless company many years ago. Bottom line, I’d recommend these for a basic setup. Even though Vilo’s test results were nowhere near the speeds of our current Wi-Fi 6 system, over 90 Mbps on a speed test is still more than fast enough for gaming, streaming 4K video on YouTube or participating in a Zoom call.
