Description

Though it's old, by the brewer's standard, still quite good. I'd like to try one fresh for comparison,. Upon taking a sip you’ll find yourself enjoying a delightful array of flavours. First, the caramel and sugar will mingle with the fruit to give you a fresh sip. Next you’ll notice the hints of licorice and banana playing through your palette, followed by the added zest of apple and orange, and rounded out by a warming hint of spicy Belgian yeast and the sweetness of cookie dough.

This story inspired a brewer from nearby Buggenhout and since the 1980s the Pauwel Kwak is brewed by Brouwerij Bosteels, which also produces the popular Tripel Karmeliet and the DeuS Brut des Flandres. It wasn’t until 1980 when Brouwerij Bosteels acquired this beer, that Kwak became known to the general public and gained its distinctive taste and characteristics. If you prefer a pale beer or lager, we suggest starting with a Belgian blond ale. Slightly lower in ABV than many Belgian ales, at around 6% ABV, the Belgian blond ale is golden in colour, with a fruity flavour and low bitterness. An ideal entry point into Belgian ales.

DeuS Brut des Flandres is a unique brew that was introduced to the world in 2002. It is a sparkling, honest and pure beer created with just water, yeast, malt and hops. The carefully selected yeast cultures add a mild taste of gin ... Although Pauwel Kwak laid the solid foundation for the beer we know today, the recipe has changed throughout the years. In fact, it has been bookmarked the “quintessential Belgian Beer” by some, while others find it hard not to rave about the intense aromas surrounding this beer. Kwak Belgian Beer Gift Sets Whether you’re looking to try Kwak beer yourself, or think it would be perfect for a friend, we have you covered. Kwak is a warming beer with hints of liquorice and a slightly spicy character of coriander and hops. There is a subtle aroma of banana, pineapple and mango. It’s best served between 5-6 degrees celsius.

Kwak Beer: Why We Love It

Dubbels and Quadrupels tend to use caramelised malts and have a rich, fruity flavour. They tend to be lightly hopped, allowing the malt to shine through. However, Tripel ales tend to be made with paler malts and more robustly hopped for a fruity yet pleasantly bitter beer with a bold flavour – try this if you’re a fan of an American Pale ale or IPA. Not only is the Kwak beer delicious, but its glass makes an interesting talking point too! It looks like a mini-yard of ale and due to having a rounded bottom, comes with a wooden stand. Apparently Pauwel Kwak designed the glass during the 19th century for coachmen who wanted a drink but couldn’t leave their coach, although it wasn’t launched until the 1980s. Whether you think Kwak will hit just the right spot, or are looking for something a little bit different, we have the right beer for you. From traditional Bavarian beer to new, fruity offerings, we’re sure there’s something you’ll love. In today’s fast-paced, innovative world, it’s easy to forget what makes cask beer so utterly amazing. But in recent years, the growth of other drinks categories and excitement around spirits, sodas and seltzers has put a strain on the cask beer category, tempting drinkers away from this amazing form of beer with the promise of new, vibrant and expressive flavour experiences.
