Fine-tuning speaker placement or moving the speakers was a breeze. Tipping the Salon2 a bit until the suction released from the floor allowed me to put a towel or rag under the GAIA. From there on out, I could move the Salon2 to play with positioning or move them out of the way for another speaker review. I didn’t need to be concerned about damaging my hardwood floor or going through different prophylactic gyrations. GAIA isolators come with thread adaptors for the 3 most common thread sizes which fit the majority of speakers.

The obvious answer is phone a friend or get your spouse to ensure that the installation goes smoothly. My wife and I were an efficient team. I did however run into a problem with the RBH SVTR. The SVTR’s massive, solid aluminum feet would not unscrew. The RBH SVTR have a large, rubber washer that created a hermetic seal between the bottom of the speaker and the aluminum feet that just wouldn’t budge. We needed some more leverage. I was adamant that I wasn't going to dissemble the SVTR Signature Reference Speakers. We finally decided to put a blanket on top of a very large dolly that has legs on the shaft so that when tipped, the dolly rests horizontally. So we tipped the SVTR onto the dolly so that we had a solid working platform. We decided that the ideal setup would be to test IsoAcoustics GAIA isolators on two different speaker setups. The two setups would highlight speakers of differing weights supported by differing floor structures: The first setup would consist of my Revel Ultima2 Salon that sit on a hardwood floor while second would consist of RBH SVTR Signature Tower speakers that sit on vinyl flooring laid over a concrete floor. These are two reference speaker systems. The Revels weigh in at 146 lbs each while the RBH SVTR Signature Towers weigh in at a whopping 205 lbs each! This started to feel like a welterweight and super heavyweight match of titans. Gaia III - Supports equipment up to 70 pounds (32 KG) // Dimensions per isolator - 1.7" x 1.5" (43 x 39mm)The first most noticeable difference for me when I finished installing the GAIA III was how much more"freer" the sound was from the speakers, the bass especially instantly stood out, far more insight and detailed. Bass extension was far better controlled and tighter with the upper regions being more defined and natural in presentation. My system is hardly lumpy or bloated, but a more explorative and msical nature came with seemingly more weight as the bass was almost able to breath more and felt so much less restrictive in how it interacted with me and my room.” Thus, I discussed with Morrison the possibility of reviewing some of the footers by trying them out on two sets of speakers that were currently at my home. One set were on stands; the Alta Audio FRM-2 Celesta, while the other set were a new Alta Audio floor standing model; the Alec. Note that the left GIAIA Titan isolator has a slightly different finish than the right GAIA Titan isolator. The range is designed for floor standing speakers and has been Crafted with the vision of providing an extraordinary acoustic performance. In every instance the GAIA isolators improved the top to bottom performance of my two reference setups.

Goal number four: How did the GAIA work across different flooring substructures. For me, I perceived that the GAIA isolators made a less dramatic impact on the music through the SVTR Signature Towers on the concrete substructure than the Salon2s on hardwood. IsoAcoustics Inc. has been manufacturing and distributing isolation products in the audio industry since January 2012. The patented IsoAcoustics technology is based on years of experience in the design and construction of radio and television studios. The driving force is Dave Morrison, closely involved in planning and building radio and television studios at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for close to 20 years. Dave Morrison was part of the design team faced with the challenges of building the world’s largest multi-media centre in Toronto: over 1.72 million square feet, with recording studios for drama, music, and chamber ensembles, special effects, radio and television shows. The driving force is Dave Morrison, closely involved in planning and building radio and television studios at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for close to 20 years. What I found really interesting is the phase chart. On both speakers (which makes me think it's not measurement changes) the phase is different by about the same amount between the without and with gaia measurements. The difference spans the ~150Hz - ~550Hz range, which is a pretty critical range. It's also changed in the upper registers. I wonder if it's that you're hearing. Sean was very forthright about producing measurements to support the effectiveness of the technology. Using a laservibrometer, an instrument that measures vibrations on a surface and rapidly scans point-by-point over the test object’s surface to measure vibration levels at various points, Sean showed me how IsoAcoustics isolators reduced the resonant energy transferred from the speaker to the supporting floor surface.

Please note that our couriers will try to deliver as arranged but we will not be held responsible for any costs incurred because of non-delivery or factors introduced by third-parties. This service is based upon best endeavour and is not guaranteed. Beautifully constructed, super supportive and allow for the speaker to present itself with far more tactile freedom in bandwidth and allowing the frequencies to really breath, giving more insight, timbre and timing. We do provide installation options for built-in appliances providing it is simply a case of fitting the appliance and furniture doors. Any additional work to the kitchen units or carpentry work required will need to be completed at the customer’s expense. After I had the IsoAcoustics GAIA installed, I noticed that they had some play if I pushed on them. This play was something that threw me for a loop and I wasn’t expecting it. I had the impression that the GAIA were somehow going to be inert objects like spikes. Well, fear not, this is part of their isolation design. Moreover, Sean told me that tipping a speaker with the GAIA installed to position it or move it around won’t damage the GAIA isolators. Design wise, aesthetically they are very nice with a high grade stainless steel body which is dark chrome plated and looks fantastic and in combination with the rubberised internal structure which is formed to stabilise internal reflections and also forms as the stable base to the footer in one moulded piece; a tactile suction type force for a hard surface, minimising vibrations and ringing from cabinet to floor and vice versa, allowing the supported speaker to be in a more “floaty” position. Carpet spike adapters are also available for under this system and are not a replacement to the rubberised bottoms which are intrinsically part of the overall vibration control system. Both Spendors are good to start with but the Gaia III affords them greater clarity, better-controlled bass and a broader, deeper soundstage that’s easier to hear into. There are zero audible downsides. They do what they say on the tin. To whichever loudspeaker I applied the IsoAcoustic feet, I found myself returning to one question: “Is this what this loudspeaker is supposed to sound like?” Maybe you should delay your next loudspeaker upgrade and try the Gaia III instead. With the protective plastic removed, I noted that in my review sets, one of the GAIA Titan had an oh-so slight difference in the finish. Katie Melua’s “Love is a Silent Thief” from Ketevan is another torture test. The GAIA once again reduced the extreme vibrations from the song’s rich bass lines from reverberating into the room’s substructure. A cookie set by YouTube to measure bandwidth that determines whether the user gets the new or old player interface. The difference were immediately audible, the sound stage was more focused, and the bass was tighter, and the micro dynamics were cleaner with everything have more snap.

GAIA was tested on two separate large scale speaker systems with one on vinyl and the other on concrete flooring. The GAIA III includes thread adaptors for sizes M6-1.0, M8-1.25 and ¼”-20. Alternative thread size adaptors are available upon request through IsoAcoustics distributors. I tried everything to loosen the seal between the rubber and the base of the speaker—razor blades, WD40—you name it. Nothing worked. Finally, I got the idea to use a strap wrench. Eureka! The strap wrench gave me the leverage I needed to loosen all the feet. My ancestor Archimedes would have been proud. So I'm waxing lyrical right? Guy spends stupid money on speakers feet and placebo effect wins the day? I don't think so. I was not sat there straining to hear these differences, they are there immediately and with no doubt. They sound superb in terms of transient response, transparency, live-like soundstaging & precise imaging. Well balanced highs & lows.
