The Jews chose to serve the Roman power, rather than Christ. Yet that very Roman power swept over them like a wave of destruction destroying their city and their temple. That Roman power grew into the papal power and was not satisfied with destroying the earthly temple, for in Daniel chapter 8 we see it attempting to reach into heaven itself to pull down the true Prince, Who is ministering in the daily. Yet, the counterfeit system attempts to take away Christ’s daily intercession ministry, and sets up an earthly daily sacrifice system in which they claim for themselves the power to create the Creator and sacrifice Him daily for the sins of the people. There was a lot in this book that I enjoyed - especially the dynamics between the various characters, the luxurious-but-sinister setting and the slow unfolding of the mystery. I'll admit that I couldn't see the solution, even as I was nearing the end, so it kept me reading. I also found the pacing of the second half of the novel to be compelling - as the danger increased, so did my interest. Overall... the book is worth 2.5 stars... not 3 as I would have given it, so i have only awarded it 2 stars...

I was hooked, it is told from 5 points of view, and you always get the sense that something isn't quite right but it's hard to put a finger on just what. Eventually Zoey becomes aware that she is in a sort of rehab facility where she is expected to stay for ten weeks. This is a punishment for her behaviour the previous evening when the police were involved. She came to the Sanctuary by helicopter. This is an expensive retreat. She can’t afford this. Zoey is told that a mysterious benefactor paid for her stay and she has to remain for the full ten weeks otherwise she will have to pay her own costs. She has no money. She is trapped. Her ultimate fate is something most readers will agree on during a read, however, Hunter Murray does just enough to keep things ambiguous enough so that we’re never fully convinced. It was the overarching question mark that hung over the whole book and kept us gripped throughout.p107: Corben flexed his fingers and felt his muscles tighten as each killer pulled a 9mm automatic, rolled a silencer into place, and chambered a round.
