Description

Note: Pearson VUE test centres in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia are currently closed. We will therefore not offer SQE assessments in these countries for the foreseeable future. We will review this should the position change. Business Law and Practice * Business Taxation * Contract * Tort * Dispute Resolution * Constitutional Law, Public and Administrative Law * The Legal Systems of England and Wales * The Human Rights Act 1998 * Legal Services and Money Laundering * Financial Services * Land Law * Property Practice * Wills and the Administration of Estates * Equity and Trusts * Solicitors’ Accounts * Criminal Law * Criminal Litigation * Professional Conduct Here are some strategies that you can employ when sitting for the SQE exam. These strategies are tailored specifically to the SQE1 exam (but in most cases can also be applied to the SQE2 exam). This offering is somewhat unique. It’s marketed as being an “exam-focused” set of notes, rather than a traditional legal text. I didn’t use any LA material myself, but I know of a number of lawyers that really liked their guides for QLTS prep. The reasons are that they are concise and to the point, with helpful summaries, diagrams and flowcharts. Therefore, if you are short on prep time, this may be an ideal resource for you. It is very likely you will need to study for the assessments. How you study for the SQE is up to you and will depend on factors such as your experience, your employer and your learning preferences. The SRA have information on choosing an SQE training providerthat may be helpful.

As an alternative to the Law Concentrate series above, you could use these little Law Express books (along with the “LPC Manuals”– below). Like Law Concentrate, they are short and sweet (and cheap!) For SQE1, you will book each Functioning Legal Knowledge assessment individually. Similarly, for SQE2, you will book your SQE2 written assessments separately to your SQE2 oral assessments. However, the relevant assessments are paid for together after all assessments have been added to your assessment “basket”. Our undergraduate response ‐ the Principles to Practice series: textbooks in the core areas of the curriculum which respond to the more practical nature of teaching. Coming soon. Find out more >> Once the credit application form has been processed, the Candidate Services team will provide details regarding the status of the form. If the credit limit has been approved, you will be able to request the Candidate Booking Form to complete with information about the candidates you want to book on to assessment(s). As a training provider or employer, you will only be able to book up to the value of your credit limit. The minimum number we accept as a bulk booking is 10 candidates.

As mentioned earlier, I undertook the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS), rather than the Solicitors Qualifying Exam, and I studied solo. Part 1 of the QLTS was a multiple-choice test known as the MCT (akin to the multiple-choice assessment that now makes up SQE1). To prepare I used a combination of library books, Law Express books and the coil-bound MCT manuals formerly produced by the QLTS School – a well-known course provider that now provides SQE training. To prepare for Part 2 (a skills test similar to SQE2) I used the “LPC Manuals” from Oxford University Press . I’ve listed most of these options below, along with many new ones. Organisations are encouraged to take a common-sense approach when deciding how long a placement should be. Candidates should consider whether a placement will give them enough time to develop the necessary competencies they will be seeking to have confirmed and signed off.

It's likely that many candidates will take SQE1 at the same time as, or slightly after, they complete their academic education. SQE2 Process of elimination – the key thing to remember about the SQE1 exam is that the format is multiple-choice. Candidates have a total of five options to choose from when answering a multiple-choice question. Instead of attempting to select the correct answer, it is often more effective to eliminate the incorrect answers. This slight change in mindset is very useful as there are often some answers that are obviously incorrect. You may not be able to detect the obviously incorrect answers but not to worry, if you are able to eliminate some of them then your odds of answering the correct answer is now increased. For example, if you can eliminate let’s say two obviously incorrect answers, then your odds of selecting the correct answer will have gone from 20% (1 in 5) to 33% (1 in 3). Requested reasonable adjustments - if you need any reasonable adjustmentsyou must request them before we book your assessment for you. If you train an apprentice who plans to take the SQE, you should complete an end point assessment agreement with us by requesting it from [email protected] may be completed with up to four different legal employers. The type of work which qualifies as QWE includes placements while studying for your degree, time spent as a paralegal or working in a law clinic, as well as working for a two year period within a single law firm. You are able to reschedule your test centre during the booking window for SQE1 or SQE2 Written if there are seats available at alternative test centres. This can be done in the assessment bookings section of your SQE account. You can only reschedule while the booking window is open. Once the booking window is closed, it is not possible to reschedule to an alternative test centre. Don’t be afraid to be flexible and adapt your game plan after a few weeks of studying. If you’re struggling with a particular area of the law or concept, then make necessary adjustments and dedicate more time to improving your knowledge in that particular area. Additionally, if you’re experiencing burn out after a few weeks then consider relaxing the pace of your studying. 5. Practice questions In most cases, for the QLD, ELD and CPE, the relevant course must have started at the latest on or before 31 December 2021.
