The first thing that struck me about the African Gin from Amarula was the eye catching elephant on the front of the bottle, the turquoise and gold colours are stunning together and really make the bottle stand out. This complex, yet delicate spirit is then distilled with botanicals – gentle juniper notes and subtle orange blossom perfectly complement the exotic marula fruit, resulting in a balanced, refreshing gin.

Please do not attempt to enter this web site if you are not above the legal age of drinking alcohol in your country of residence. There is just one place on earth where the Marula trees grow – across Africa’s subequatorial plains. Amarula Gin’s gentle juniper notes, subtle orange blossom and peppery Ghanaian grains of paradise perfectly complement the exotic marula fruit.A bottle of Amarula gin makes a perfect Christmas gift for your loved one this year, I highly recommend it and would certainly be happy if someone brought me a bottle! Made with a base of marula fruit spirit, along with a whole herd of botanicals, including grains of paradise and orange blossom, which are steeped in the spirit before being distilled, it’s superb splashed into quality tonic.

The Amarula Trust was originally set up to safeguard the African elephant – vital to the marula fruit harvest – and preserve the legacy of its local communities. And there is just one time of year when the Marula trees bear their exotic fruit – at the height of our beautiful summer.Light and fresh gin from folks at Amarula, made with a base of marula fruit spirit alongside a blend of botanicals including wild Marula fruit, juniper berries, orange peel, orange blossoms and grains of paradise. Premium botanicals (juniper berries, orange peel and blossom, and Ghanaian grains of paradise) are added and steeped for 24 hours in the spirit and later gently distilled in a pot still.

The marula fruit grows in South Africa and is a favourite of the elephant herds who drawn by the scent of the ripe fruit, gather beneath the trees. This is the first African gin I have tried, and it is the only gin made from ‘marula fruit spirit’ giving it a distinctive and exotic taste. With a light, sweet orange flourish and spicy backbone – this refreshing, uniquely African gin is made for savouring and sharing. Grown wild, each fruit is carefully hand-picked, washed, destoned, pulped and cooled to ensure the best quality, before being distilled into marula fruit spirit. We'll send them to be recycled and you'll save paper, carbon emissions and time at the recycling centre!
