Anywhere and everywhere!Though some of us may dream of that picture I painted in the beginning of this post, that isn’t for everyone. And it’s certainly not the norm.

You might think that a hedge only refers to a bush or shrub, but that isn’t the case here. In witchcraft, the hedge refers to the boundary or veil between this world and the spirit realm. An Eclectic witch is someone who pulls from various witchcraft traditions for their spellwork and rituals. They rely on a variety of different cultures, beliefs, and systems to formulate their own personal witchcraft practice which may change and evolve over time. 5. Traditional Witch One of the rare types of witches is the hereditary witch. A hereditary witch inherits his or her magical knowledge and practice from the generations before (mother, grandmother, aunt, uncle, etc.) Debate as to whether the tradition is passed down over MANY generations, a few generations, or whether the tradition itself has to be verbally defined (by the family) as witchcraft circulates in the pagan community today. Learn the 15 Signs You Could Be a Hereditary Witch. 5. The Fairy Witch Air energy is also known as “breath” in some traditions. In other traditions it is called “prana”, “chi”, “qi”, “ki”, “kundalini”, “life force”, “vitality”, and “energy”. The astral body is the psychic or spirit form that we take on when astral travelling. Some describe it as the soul. Astral PlaneShould you find yourself needing to draw more from another gender, incorporating Air into your work should help. And of course, having the willingness to learn. It’s not mandatory that you do all of those things, they are but examples. Most early Wiccan groups adhered to the duotheistic worship of a Horned God and a Mother Goddess, with practitioners typically believing that these had been the ancient deities worshipped by the hunter-gatherers of the Old Stone Age, whose veneration had been passed down in secret right to the present. [39] This theology derived from Egyptologist Margaret Murray's claims about the witch-cult in her book The Witch-Cult in Western Europe published by Oxford University Press in 1921; [42] she claimed that this cult had venerated a Horned God at the time of the Early Modern witch trials, but centuries before it had also worshipped a Mother Goddess. [41] This duotheistic Horned God/Mother Goddess structure was embraced by Gardner – who claimed that it had Stone Age roots – and remains the underlying theological basis to his Gardnerian tradition. [43] Gardner claimed that the names of these deities were to be kept secret within the tradition, although in 1964 they were publicly revealed to be Cernunnos and Aradia; the secret Gardnerian deity names were subsequently changed. The Five Points of Wiccan Belief include the Wiccan Rede, the Law of Return, the Ethic of Self-Responsibility, the Ethic of Constant Improvement and the Ethic of Attunement. The Wiccan Rede is written in many ways, but its intent is consistent: “do what you will, so long as it harms none.” The Law of Return states that whatever positive or negative energy a person puts out into the world will be returned to that person three times over. Are you feeling the kitchen witch vibes? And if you already consider yourself one, do you have any favourite aspects of the craft? It’s all about focus, intention, and the desire to manifest. Can You Be More Than One Type Of Witch?

Green witches are extremely nature based. They are likely to be in-tune with the seasons and often use natural materials to create their own magical tools. They most likely try to perform all their spellwork and rituals outside in nature when possible. 10. Cosmic Witch Traditionally in the Gardnerian Craft, each element has been associated with a cardinal point of the compass; air with east, fire with south, water with west, earth with north, and the spirit with centre. [99] However, some Wiccans, such as Frederic Lamond, have claimed that the set cardinal points are only those applicable to the geography of southern England, where Wicca evolved, and that Wiccans should determine which directions best suit each element in their region. For instance, those living on the east coast of North America should invoke water in the east and not the west because the colossal body of water, the Atlantic ocean, is to their east. [100] Other Craft groups have associated the elements with different cardinal points, for instance Robert Cochrane's Clan of Tubal Cain associated earth with south, fire with east, water with west and air with north, [101] and each of which were controlled over by a different deity who were seen as children of the primary Horned God and Goddess. The five elements are symbolised by the five points of the pentagram, the most-used symbol of Wicca. [102] Practices [ edit ] A Wiccan altar erected at Beltane.
