The intimidating sight of a large man with a lethal baseball bat slung over his shoulder is enough to get many people to surrender to Negan immediately. Once they realize how willing Negan is to end people’s lives with his beloved Lucille, there is not a single person who does not surrender. Except, of course, for the people he kills. 2. How Was Lucille Introduced? Negan reappears in " Hostiles and Calamities" where he greets Eugene entering the Sanctuary. After determining that Eugene is indeed highly intelligent, Negan allows him to get comfortable within the Sanctuary and even sends him two of his "wives" to provide him with company. When Negan discovers that Sherry ( Christine Evangelista), one of his concubines, is gone, he suspects her of freeing Daryl and has his minion Dwight ( Austin Amelio) - Sherry's husband - beaten and thrown in a cell. When he is convinced that Dwight was not involved and is still loyal, he sends him after Sherry, only to learn that she supposedly was killed by walkers. When he finds evidence of Dr. Carson aiding in Daryl's escape (secretly planted by Dwight), Negan throws him in the fire-pit before apologizing to Dwight for doubting him, and offering condolences for his loss. Nothing is known about Lucille's use prior to the outbreak, other than it was a baseball bat which was located likely somewhere in Virginia.

And so, here we are: one final pit stop before the final ever season of The Walking Dead. These six bridge episodes have laid the groundwork for the forthcoming 11th chapter of the long-running zombie series with a fairly decent mix of bonus stories. We’ve seen the re-introduction of Maggie, learned of Daryl’s previously untold dalliance with Leah and got up-close-and-personal with the suspect soldiers of the Commonwealth. To cap it all off, season 10C concludes with a Negan-centric instalment that explores his mysterious pre-Saviors days. Here’s what went down… Davis, Brandon (August 1, 2018). "Is Negan Really Leaving 'The Walking Dead' Forever?". ComicBook.com. Several years after the end of The Walking Dead, Maggie seeks out the help of Negan, revealing that Hershel has been kidnapped and taken to a walker-infested Manhattan by a man known only as the Croat. In the years since the defeat of Pamela Milton and Lance Hornsby, Maggie has been forced to abandon the original Hilltop due to the damage from the Whisperers ultimately being too severe to repair, instead relocating the community to a rural factory complex in either New York or New Jersey. This new Hilltop was raided by the Croat who Maggie had recognized as a former Savior from his use of Savior tactics and, in particular, the whistle that the Saviors had used to intimidate their victims. The two agree to a deal where Maggie will allow Negan's young companion Ginny to live at the Hilltop in exchange for his help. In the intervening years, Negan has returned to many of his old ways while an unknown fate has befallen Annie and his child. Negan is being hunted by marshals from the New Babylon Federation for supposedly committing five murders, but Negan himself states that things didn't go as the marshals claim that they did. During seasons 7 and 8, Negan was also lambasted by some critics as a "complete idiot," [56] "at the center of all the show's problems," [57] and "ridiculous." [58]In the comic books, Lucille continues on after Negan is put in prison. She is wielded by Dwight for a long time while Negan is rotting in a cell. During that time Dwight does not use her as his main weapon but keeps her almost to spite Negan. Lucille is named after Negan’s dead wife who he views as a reason he used to be weak. That adds to Lucille’s history and importance to Negan. The way that Negan reacts when he learns he will not see Lucille again is more emotion than we see from him throughout the entire show letting us know that he feels helpless without his beloved bat.

Negan (full name in the television series: Negan Smith) is a fictional character in the comic book series The Walking Dead and in the television series of the same name. He was the leader of the Saviors, a group of survivors in the Sanctuary that oppresses other survivor communities and forces them to pay tribute to him. In the comics, the character's appearance is based on Henry Rollins, as confirmed by Charlie Adlard. [1] Jeffrey Dean Morgan portrays Negan in the television series, having first appeared in the sixth-season finale. [2] Those are the only onscreen human kills that we see Negan perform with Lucille. However, in the Saviors Compound, there are many polaroid pictures of Negan’s victims with their heads beaten in. There are twenty-one pictures shown that have a person clearly murdered with the help of Lucille. A weapon that resembles Lucille is seen on Supernatural in the episode "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell". Protagonist Dean Winchester is shown wielding it and makes the statement "Man, Dad loved this thing." Sam and Dean Winchester's father was played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan who also plays Negan on The Walking Dead.In the comics, Lucille still seems to be a wooden bat and still has her trademark barbed wire wrapped around the business part of her. Negan maintains his obsession with his bat and his need to refer to her as though she is a real person. However, she might be an even more iconic weapon in the comics than she was in the show with a longer presence and a deeper history. Ausiello, Michael (November 10, 2015). "Jeffrey Dean Morgan Joins Walking Dead Cast as... Infamous Villain Negan!". TVLine . Retrieved November 10, 2015. Those are only the humans that Lucille has been used to kill. As The Walking Dead features hoards of zombies, many more walkers are killed than humans. Negan killed about twenty-two walkers with Lucille on screen. Schedeen, Jesse (October 17, 2012). "The Walking Dead #103 Review". IGN . Retrieved October 17, 2012. After being exiled, Negan sits drinking heavily by the fire when he hallucinates a younger version of himself sitting in a chair holding Lucille. The younger Negan taunts him about how Negan believed that the people in Alexandria would ever see him differently than who he truly is, the younger version of himself that had been the brutal leader of the Saviors. Negan calls his younger self a clown and "a cult of personality with no cult." The younger Negan reminds his older self that he had gotten a lot further as Negan, leader of the Saviors, than he's gotten just by being a good person. "It's time to face the facts old man: you are nothing without her." gesturing to the bat. Enraged, Negan tosses his glass at the chair, shattering the glass and causing the hallucination to disappear.

On The Walking Dead, Stupidity Is Suddenly a Much Bigger Problem Than Zombies". Gizmodo. 5 December 2016. Earlier in the series, it was revealed that Negan’s wife was diagnosed withcancer. He couldn’t handle this situation and sought refuge in bed with another woman. He called off the affair later, and even though his wife knew about the infidelity, he returned to her side in the hospital as she battled the disease. The bikers are now beating Franklin up in a bid to find out where “the good stuff is”. Outside the bar, a noticeably changed Negan clubs one of the bikers to death with Lucille and shoots another. A shoot-out ensues, allowing Franklin to free himself as Negan forces his way into the bar. Shoe now firmly on the other foot, Negan tells the now-restrained gang leader that he’s “got some stuff to get off my chest” and “this time, you best hope I never stop talking – cos when I do, something bad is going to happen”.Just Do It Later Hoodie, The Walking Dead Slogan Hoodie, Novelty Blood Hoodie, Baseball Bat Hoodie, Negan Lucille Present Hoodie In the present-day, Negan speaks to the memory of his late wife while holding the newly rediscovered Lucille bat in front of a roaring fire in Leah’s cabin. “I’m sorry that I left you,” he says, before joking: “I hope you found someone in the afterlife and you are screwing your brains out.” Saying that he misses her and that he “loved the shit out of you”, he adds: “I am going to do your fighting for you.” He then burns Lucille the bat – has Negan turned a corner? The last thing we see before the season ends is Negan choosing who to kill by pointing Lucille at each person while saying “eenie, meenie, miny, mo” before finally landing on a person and beating them to death with Lucille. This sets the tone for how we will view both Negan and Lucille for the rest of the series.

Our first introduction to Lucille is when Negan brutally beats two people to death with her. This left a lasting impression on audiences of both what Negan was capable of and what Lucille was used for. In the last episode of season six, we meet Lucille and see exactly what she and Negan are capable of. In the second installment, we learn that Negan’s wife has cancer. We also learn that, after Negan finds out his wife’s diagnosis, he has an affair to help him emotionally cope with her illness. In the third installment, however, Negan tells his wife about the affair and ends it, deciding to rededicate his life to his wife, to be there by her side. Unfortunately, his wife’s condition continues to deteriorate. Louisville sluggers and therefore Lucille, weigh anywhere in between thirty ounces and forty-five ounces. The most likely weight of Lucille is forty-three ounces with a length of about forty-two inches. That would make Lucille a regulation heavyweight Louisville slugger that could do some serious damage. In the present, the Croat asks Negan about Lucille and Negan admits that she's gone. The Croat correctly deduces that the old bat had eventually broken from being used to bash people's heads in too much.Lincoln, Ross A.; Grobar, Matt (December 11, 2016).
