Rhymer probably worked very hard to make the original dialogue at least readable and probably that it was originally atrocious. A virus spreads across the world, transforming all humankind into wild, slavering, furry beasts- cats, to be precise.

One of the most fascinating things about the zombie genre is how easy it is to change and elevate the concept; allowing zombies to be anything from comedic fools to disgusting body-horror aberrations. This is a manga that relies almost solely on the absurdity of a typical zombie apocalypse where the zombie virus is replaced with a cat transformation virus, where people who are in close contact with the cats like petting them will get "infected" and rapidly turn into cats themselves and for some reason everyone in the world absolutely loves cats to the point of stupidity, especially the protagonist that loves cats just a bit too much. And the horde is expanding, since if these adorable kitties snuggle with a human, the human is transformed into yet another cat.

While it is obviously inspired by classic zombie media, the sheer absurdity of the concept mixed with the vibrant characters and their banter means there's plenty of comedy intertwined with the story. Night of the Living Cat is the perfect manga to read this Halloween, especially for those looking for a fun horror series that subverts the usual zombie tropes. Since then, Jonathon has maintained a passion for anime, watching most new shows each season and hunting down overlooked gems from previous ones.

While I don't want to bring up logic here since it's clearly something of a gag manga, the art style is so serious and gritty and the conversations/actions are dramatic and "real" so that it clashes with the gag feeling and I can't help but think of it. If you're a big cat fan definitely check out this series but if you don't have any particular attachment to felines then maybe you can skip this manga and read something else. Plus, long-time zombie fans will find plenty of references to classic zombie media, making Night of the Living Cat feel like a fantastic homage to the genre and its greatest creators. Due to this, he has no idea about his past, how he ended up in this strange world, or how he has survived for this long.Due to the way it's written and displayed, I can't feel any care for the mc or his team, the most that can happen is that they turn into cats like everyone else, at this point it doesn't feel like a big deal especially since they all love cats so much, so why bother? Those few survivors who remain human take refuge in the dark corners of the earth as they fight back against the feline horde. The people living in this world don't find it funny, they find it horrifying that this is happening.
