Stove fans vary in the number of blades they possess, but a 4-blade fan is widely considered to be very effective. How we review stove fans As with many other modern designs, the My Stove Fan is fitted with a bi-metallic strip that bends, and in turn, tilts the fan to protect its motor and Peltier module from overheating; a common problem with all stove fans. If the components within the fan reach above 320 ° Centigrade they will become quite seriously damaged. We suggest you use our SFR stove thermometer if you expect your stove to reach temperatures of 320 ° C or above. The SFR stove thermometer can be placed next to your fan or on the flue pipe as it comes with a screw and wire to secure mounting. This gives you the comfort of knowing how hot your stove is and that your fan is safe from damage. A variety of solutions have been put forth, but in most cases, the power supply became the hindrance. Although the small electric motor used in a log burner fan only require a small amount of energy to operate, standard batteries couldn't be used because they would be exposed to dangerous levels of heat, in some cases in excess of 300C/570F! That's definitely well beyond tolerance for most batteries.

If you are still unsure about the effectiveness of stove fans and thinking the price of them can be quite an investment, we are very pleased to introduce a great little starter fan. It has a retro design reminiscent of the first fans to market from the big brands such as Caframo or Valiant nearly a decade ago. Despite their revisions over the years the retro design of My Stove Fan will in no way affect the efficacy of its main purpose, which is to circulate the hot air around your room. Warpfive devices have massive fan blades, they work at high temperatures and produce enough energy to push enormous amounts of air – the manufacturer claims their fans create a stream that can even be felt five meters away from the stove -that’s really awesome! If heat is what you want, you have to accept that you’ll burn a lot of fuel. Right? Not necessarily. If you’re not especially technically inclined, you might want to consider the largest and probably the most powerful Peltier powered stove fan by Valiant, the Vanquish 250. This model was introduced to the market last year (2016), is 250mm high and has two aerodynamically profiled blades that push large volumes of heat and is designed specifically for large rooms. A stove fan for a standard room. For a very long time the owners of any kind of built-in stove had been ruled out from being able to have a stove fan and the advantages they bring, as the fans were designed to be placed on a big, flat stove top, which obviously precludes the inset and insert stoves. This marginalised a huge chunk of the market, and a solution had to be found sooner rather than later. As for the maker, Hansa has always been an advocate for the environment, and this is mirrored in all the products that they have. They make every single product based on rigorous research, and they have the mission of producing innovative, modern, and high quality product. They also make sure they adhere not just to the expectations of customers but also to safety requirements and environmental protection standards. Battery operated and electric operated fans are not very efficient to use because the high heat from the stove (some can become hotter than 300C or 570F) can do serious damage to the batteries or the electrical wiring in them. They just can’t take the high heat that most stoves put out. Fortunately, these types of fans are no longer needed, as there are stove fans designed to work without electricity or batteries. There’s no doubt that stove fans, whether they are electric or Stirling powered, are a huge improvement to the distribution of heat from stoves. Heat that would otherwise gather under the ceiling. Their compact designs and simple mountings have played an important role in generating a huge demand customer. As of today – November 2017 – the Sirocco Plus is the only stove fan that can be adapted to work on the built in stove.

The SmartFan Original fan is the only device that pushes the air in different directions simultaneously; this smaller fan cools the top chamber to secure a better temperature divergency, therefore increasing efficiency. What if my stove doesn’t have a flat surface? We recommend using a stove or infrared thermometer to control the temp of the stove top and keep it within the best operating range of your fan as well as avoid overheating it. Would stove fans work on Gas stoves? This is a perfect fan should you have a stove that doesn’t generate a lot of heat, such as a soap stone stove, as it uses the heat from the hottest part of the stove, the flue, to generate the electricity needed to power the fan. It is also a good solution for the stoves that are designed with a decoration on top, or are simply not perfectly horizontal for a stove fan to sit on. Are there any fans for inset wood burning stoves? The most powerful stove fans are those powered by a Stirling engine, like Vulcan or Warpfive – both of which are handmade and British. The only twin-blade design here, the 8 Blade Double Mini Heat Powered Stove Fan from UK Stove Fans features a total of eight blades and has an excellent airflow thanks to a maximum speed of 1970RPM, despite its handy compact size.Apart from the fact that your room will most certainly have the warmth that you’re craving for, you’ll hardly notice that it’s there. For one, this stove fan comes out of the box ready to use.

Operation is praised for being quiet, while the design is subtle and easily blends in with the majority of stove styles, both contemporary and classic. As IQ Design’s goal was to provide a range of stove fan models to fit nearly every heating stove and their settings, they offer a smaller version of the SmartFan Original, which is the Smartfan Mini and is only 180mm high. The Stirling stove fans are generally speaking quite large, but if you have a small opening over the stove it’s possible the Warpfive Sidewinder will fit in there as it’s only 225mm high. The fan blades are mounted on the platform above the mini Stirling engine and a belt powered with the energy harnessed from the stove top drives the fan; which added to a graphite piston, borosilicate cylinder and contrasting brass screws and counterbalances, it is a thing of pure beauty. As the air inside the fan heats up, the miniature Stirling engine expands, and the piston is thrust upward; as the air cools, the engine contracts and the piston is forced down. This cycle repeats, essentially moving the hot air up and out of the fan and into your home, rather than towards the ceiling. Aside from what you save by not using up too much fuel, the Sirocco also costs nothing to operate. All you have to do, literally, is put the fan on top of the stove, and then wait for the surface to be heated up. The Sirocco is capable of generating its own electricity, so you don’t even have to deal with all the hassle of batteries and power cords. This is because the heated surface of the Sirocco is large, and just by heating up this surface (by putting it on top of the stove), it can already generate a really large amount of power. What this means is that even if the heating process is over and done with, it can still operate for a longer period of time and continue to bring warmth to the room. The heat is maximized to its full efficiency, so you don’t have to keep worrying about added costs.Secure the vertical mounting kit using the two screws provided. Don’t forget to remove the countersank screws from the base before mounting the VMT! When the air heats up, the Sterling engine expands, thrusting a piston upward; when the air drops in temperature, the engine contracts, drawing the same piston downward. This rapid succession provides power that transforms the heat energy to mechanical energy used to turn the fan blade.
