Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 CDTi (120PS) - Review, Specification
and Technical Data
Review
The Vauxhall Vectra features in the top ten of the UK's most popular cars, perhaps because of the UK fleet market where it is a competitor with the Ford Mondeo. A major design upgrade in 2005 gave it a much improved interior with better quality materials and it has proved itself to be reliable overall. Like the Mondeo it suffers from an image problem, probably due to its prevalence in the fleet market. Nevertheless, even though not revolutionary, the improved design has made it look, as it in fact is, a solid and reliable vehicle with one or two outstanding features. It has a built in service interval monitor and Cornering Brake Control (CBC). The latter could irritate those that consider themselves expert drivers but the fact is - it's probably a lot better than reflex actions at accident prevention. It scored 4 stars in the Euro NCAP tests and has a very comprehensive array of safety and security features including a pedal release system designed to move the pedals downwards and away in a crash and so prevent them adding another risk of injury. Overall the diesels are amongst the best buys across the range. The Vectra is now an improved all rounder with more responsive steering and suspension and a quiet comfortable drive.
