Plus, there are five lovely metal tins that represent the suitcases of each Don (individually coloured and numbered), and it’s these that are used to stash away laundered money and completed job cards throughout the game. Corleone's Empire, like the best of those efforts, isn’t necessarily a faithful adaptation in terms of narrative, but it’s absolutely devout when it comes to atmosphere and that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ – or should that be 'nun lu sacciu'? That’s to give enough space for the 36 sculpted plastic miniatures, all crafted with the usual high quality we have come to expect from the company that once had “cool mini” as part of its name.

It would be odd if a game about power battles amongst organised crime families didn’t have it as a central tool. You play as competing mafia families who are vying for economic control of the organized crime networks of New York City, deploying your thugs, your don, your wife, and your heir on the board to shake down businesses and engage in area-control turf wars. In true mafia fashion your goal is to control turf within New York, fulfil illicit jobs using ill-gotten goods and ultimately line your pockets with as much cash as possible, because whoever is richest at the end of the game walks away as the winner. Production-wise, The Godfather: Corleone’s Empire is hard to fault: the board feels solid, the tiles and stackable counters feel good in the hand, and the decent-sized plastic miniatures (on different coloured bases to represent competing families) all look the part.

Eric Lang brings the three layers of worker placement, area control and secret bidding together with a deft hand, each affecting the others enough to make your decisions feel impactful. This is one of the big reasons family members are so important because they can count toward control of multiple pieces of turf at once. As opposed to re-enacting specific moments of the titular film, Corleone's Empire is all about evoking a similar feel.Sometimes we may include links to online retailers, from which we might receive a commission if you make a purchase.

The tin suitcase is a clever way to hide your ill-gotten gains from your rivals and gives a nice thematic flourish. Oddly, despite the obvious drawing power of the film, until recently there have been no games based on it. The game builds in a way that results in the dramatic crescendo of the final act where the bullets really start flying. The only draw back I found was that there is not a solo play and that the "Godfather" Vito Corleone is just a moving piece on the turn track and has nothing to do with the game.

The world’s favourite family board game brings you another exciting edition of MONOPOLY – The Godfather! The game also features drive-by shootings in which enemy tokens are removed from the board and placed face-down in the river.

Based on the original 1972 The Godfather movie starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, Last Family Standing is the ultimate adult game. Spin Master Puzzles, Toys and Games: A world of jigsaw puzzles and family board games for kids, teens, and adults. Sure, there are some connections here and there and some subtle little hints, but as a whole, personally I didn't feel like I was reliving the movie. There are no tokens, but the rest of the components are top quality as can be expected from any CMON game.
