Very good general book about the Alhambra and its history, which tries to discuss what is truly known as opposed to romantic legends which are endlessly repeated despite having little or no foundation in fact. Muslim Granada had been a tenuous construct for centuries, beset on all sides by its enemies; the Alhambra was never some kind of luxurious European Baghdad. A boy has lived his whole life trapped within a vast library, older than empires and larger than cities.
