That said, anyone looking for a substantial challenge or more than a superficial dash of strategy should look elsewhere. Starting with the player sitting immediately to the left of the captain, passengers (players still in the aircraft) take turns declaring whether they will stay aboard or not. If the passenger feels that the captain will be able to overcome the challenges shown by the dice, he announces « I will stay » and leaves his pawn in the aircraft. Celestia is perfect at 20-30 minutes; if it went too much longer, I wouldn’t be as fond of it as I am.

It's quite light, although I imagine if you were the serious type there is a lot of maths and memorisation in there too. Unlike Incan Gold which provides the same gameplay as a slot machine, there’s a lot of playfulness within Celestia. The Captain now discards the right amount of cards from their hand to keep the ship going, if they can’t, they don’t discard any cards but the ship will crash. Celestia is an easy to learn card game that is ideal for starting a games night or to act as a short filler between more substantial affairs.Celestia is a game that benefits from the atmosphere it lovingly creates through the game’s physical pieces. Celestia, in addition to the wild cards, has some other special cards mixed in its deck that can spice up the game. If the captain does have the cards exactly matching the dice, they must play those cards and the round continues, with the captain passing to the next player.

Each of the island tiles is beautifully illustrated, and they serve simply as lily pads for the airship, brief stops before the next jump. Celestia truly is a game that can be played by anyone, it's simple and colourful enough that it has a wide ranging appeal but its effective use of that push-your-luck element means that it can easily be enjoyed by even the heaviest of gamer. At the end of a round, every player draws a new equipment card and play continues with a new captain. On each player's turn, they become the "captain" (marked by a black compass token by their player name) and will roll 2 or more dice.If a player decides to disembark, they get a treasure from that land, and thus gain points equal to the land's number. Incan Gold is similarly pure, offering a simple binary that allows even new players to understand what they’re faced with. If the captain does not have cards matching the dice, the ship will crash (unless anyone plays special cards to save it -- see Power Cards later).
