At first I didn’t like it because it didn’t perform well and was a little too sweet for my taste but maybe since it’s had time to macerate the sweetness no longer over Powers everything thisbhas going on.

The closest smelling fragrances to this outside of the L'Homme Ideal line are IMO Dior Homme Parfum and Feve Deliceuse.If you remove the prominent (sweetened from tonka) almond note you have pretty much L'Oreal Men Expert Barber Club grooming products scent! The opening was disarming, consisting of a unique accord formed from coumarin, powdery heliotrope, top end sparkle from mandarin and aromatic rosemary to paint the scent masculine.

This fragrance, a creation from the renowned niche/designer house, presents a blend of notes, featuring cherry, almond, bergamot, spices, vanilla, tonka bean, leather, incense, and sandalwood. IDK, My first experience with Guerlain besides testing the EDP which lasts longer by far but do not like the smell as much. Seeing most reviews below saying that this has poor longevity and sillage makes me think that my bottle, bought Spring 2023, is from a perfect batch since I get 10+ hours. I even bought a 100ml back-up bottle of this, l'Instant de Guerlain EdP, l'Homme EdP and l'Homme Ideal Extreme. Unique enough to be enjoyed by a fragrance aficionado but also very attractive to the general public - just like a designer fragrance should.

The tincture is made using an artisanal process at the Orphin factory, where vanilla pods are cut into small pieces and steeped in alcohol until they take on a beautiful warm amber hue. I won't deny it's sexy, when I first tried it I thought there was Iris in this and I love Iris, but nope it soon turned too sticky sweet on my skin and I felt like I smelled a bit like cherry cough syrup walking around. sprays on my arm were pushing out enough for a female friend to comment in the car a few times how good it smells.

Top notes are Almond, Spices, Lavender, Bergamot, Thyme and Rosemary; middle notes are Cherry, Vanilla, Incense and Bulgarian Rose; base notes are Leather, Tonka Bean and Sandalwood. This fragrance lasts a good 8-10 hours with 1-2 feet of projection on my skin on merely just 2 sprays to each side of the neck. A good candidate for a signature scent, could be worn all year around, in formal settings or informal gatherings, at a date night, at office, whatever. Or maybe I'll just hoard my decant until the end of time, since I can't really wear this during the day where the average temperature is 28-32 Celsius where I live anyway. A heavy, matt and intense cap, decidedly masculine, which borrows its guilloché detailing from the world of watchmaking.

Not likely as the profile for my nose is close enough to EDP and I already have an almost finished small bottle and an unopened big one for that. I also tried the new Platine Prive which is a re-release of the cologne flanker and it is very much cologne-esque so not quite what I'm after.

To top it all off, the bottle is a classy glass bottle, shaped similarly to BDC and the effortless spray through the atomiser is an alluring experience in itself. In a way, this sweet leather-tonka combination is very mainstream (Armani Code Profumo comes to mind, but almost every designer line has something like that in their selection). Cause some people may get pure cherry, some may get the pipe tobacco, and others might experience all the notes. The creamy almond and cherry note is beautiful, it’s marketed as a men’s fragrance but even my wife said this can definitely go unisex and I agree. I don’t consider this as a potential signature scent for me because is way too dress up, professional fragrance while I am more of a sporty - elegant dude.
