Swami Vivekanand was an Indian Hindu monk, a chief disciple of the 19th-century Indian mystic Ramakrishna. However, in certain instances, occasional blurriness, missing segments, or faint black spots might persist. From mid-June to early August 1895 Vivekananda conducted classes and delivered lectures to some selected students at Thousand Island Park. As a reproduction of a historical artifact, this work may contain missing or blurred pages, poor pictures, errant marks, etc.

After the lecture, the interest of listeners grew so deep that they demanded regular classes in Brooklyn. It was a small room of a lodging house where he was staying at that time, and the number of students and disciples increased so rapidly that it soon went beyond of the small room's capacity of the chairs. He was the chief disciple of Ramakrishna and played a crucial role in raising interfaith awareness and elevating Hinduism to a major world religion.
