According to the Volvo subwoofer installation instructions, you need to insert a pin into the large connector on the back of the REM (rear fuseholder), but that either needs to be enabled to function on that pin as a turn-on signal, or it is a communication bus signal to the factory amplifier. Even though they show video of it being installed in a Mazda 5, it does not come with the appropriate thread/pitch rod, so that was an added purchase (quite expensive for hardware depending on how obscure the threaded rod size/pitch is in your car). For the auto on, I rewired the source power directly to the power for the sub and let the speaker level inputs turn on the unit.

You'll need to run power from the battery ( using a wiring kit like this), and then grab the rear LF signals (I assume you can use the rear deck speaker signals on the sedan and it would sound fine too, but I can't confirm that personally. The 22+ base models DO NOT have the amp in the trunk to utilize the various harnesses available to allow easy install to add Amp or Subwoofer, so I was sad to not find much info on how to add an amp/subwoofer without a harness.

It would be awesome if they crappy little rear speaker is filtered at the speaker and not at the head unit.And with over temperature protection (OTP) and over current protection (OCP) you can count on reliability at peak volume levels. You'd need to either tap into the rear speaker and use the high-level inputs, or tap into the rears speakers with a line out converter. Outlets and voltage differ internationally and this product may require an adapter or converter for use in your destination.
