The translation for Square Enix Manga is, as usual, by Taylor Engel and reads well; there are some helpful translation notes at the end. Adachi had lots of instances where he was unwillingly subjected to Kurosawa's thoughts and fantasies about him - other than the beginning of the book, Adachi mostly didn't touch Kurosawa on purpose, but some touches were unavoidable.

An hour after it was posted, Ito, an editor who had been following her work for some time, offered her a publishing deal through Twitter.I definitely am a fan of boys love, AKA yaoi (or just M/M romance) and I look forward to more books within this genre of manga.

And those AUs are, in part, incredibly entertaining to me solely because I am a sex-averse asexual who deserves magic powers within the next few years, please and thank you. Not simple a “white cone of light” or “outline”, artists draw it all… Because for the most part their love of sex, bodies, and sexy stories is why they’re making hentai in the first place. He’s maybe one of the last holdovers from old-style, sex-comedy shonen manga that dominated Jump in the 70s and 80s. An author's note, a couple extra illustrations, one full-color illustration, a page of translator's notes, a brief comic-style afterword by the author, and a few chapters at the end that could either be considered bonus manga or just an extension of the main story (one of them stars Adachi's friend, but the rest are all still focused on Kurosawa and Adachi). I do think it sidesteps that problem by having our protagonist Adachi not identify as gay… Or anything really.

He doesn’t even use them in service to the company, until his feelings for Kurosawa inspire him to do so. It’s hard to fault anyone given the absolutely shitty political climate around LGBTQ issues and books… But yeah, this is volume is not explicit, and it’s disappointing. This is honestly a title I was looking for an excuse to read, so fingers crossed I can make it happen.

Kurosawa continues to just be so happy to be able to show his affection openly to Adachi, and I love that for him too. All around, this was a pretty solid start, if more repetitive than I usually like in first installments, and any lingering fears that it was going to handle the whole "virgin at 30" thing by bashing the character or stressing the importance of sex was quickly allayed. And when Adachi, unable to keep his secret about his magical power any longer, just blurts out the truth to his boyfriend’s face, he’s surprised to find that the big reveal deepens their bond even more!

One of my favorite shows of the fall 2023 season was the animated adaptation of INORI's light novel series, the latest in a string of isekai anime revolving around the concept of video game "villainess" characters redeeming themselves. Square Enix Manga have given this volume a Mature rating, although there’s very little in the way of intimate scenes and those that are there, are not only consensual but earned. A drama CD adaptation was released on October 23, 2019, starring Atsushi Abe as Adachi, Takuya Satō as Kurosawa, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Tsuge, and Kōhei Amasaki as Minato. David mentions the pointy word balloons on page 62 as being something he had a hard time with, as while they’re supposed to be hurtful and “piercing”, they don’t actually pierce, and to Western readers just look like word balloons with long tales. thing, but it does seem like it's going to be addressed by the narrative and it checks out with the whole fear of intimacy, so unless it persists for too long, I'm not concerned about it.

This technique gives the story, which I suppose is predominantly created as a romantic comedy, a more serious undertone. In stead of rejecting him, Kurosawa is just embarrassed for all the truly unhinged things he thought and mostly grateful for the magic for bringing them together.I think this maybe has the opposite, effect, as they’re gross monsters with no sexual characteristics to begin with, but covering them up creates a different implication? And I thought I was having a really bad PSD after watching ITSAY and IPYTM but here came Cherry Magic. It seems that if you can stay a virgin until you reach the age of thirty, you become a wizard and acquire this unexpected power. is a pleasant surprise, a gentle and cute romantic comedy told with a light touch; there’s something rather endearing about two 30-something salarymen’s mundane lives being transformed by a sprinkle of magic.
