Bottled on site in Jalisco and made of 100% agave, Arette Blanco is an exceptional silver tequila full of fresh flavours, spicy hints and a cheeky character in which you can pick out each single flavour note. It turns out they were pretty popular, so in 2006 Rexer created Ilegal Mezcal purely just to supply his bar with, nobody else. Ilegal Mezcal has strengthened our commitment to an eco-friendly foundation and future, announcing that all bottles will be made with 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) glass.Soon, this mezcal was being carried in the luggage of travellers passing from Guatemala to America and beyond. Again extremely smooth on the palate, the flavours are however more developed with hints of tobacco and caramalised stone fruits.

It has been meticulously matured in ex-bourbon barrels for four months to produce a wonderfully sweet yet somewhat bitter taste. Unlike tequila, many different agave varieties are permitted for mezcal production - Ilegal's mezcals are usually made with the Espadin variety.Ilegal Mezcal was founded by John Rexer, who began smuggling this product to his Bar, Cafe No Se, in Antigua, Guatemala. This Ilegal reposado mezcal is aged around four months in ex-bourbon casks before bottling and is intensely flavoured, with strong, smoky vegetal agave aromas and flavours and a minerally, oily edge.
