I read more than half of this monstrosity, and though the male narrator's accent was sexy af, I'd rather drink acid than continue this excuse of a 'romance'. this was really cute but i just didn’t care about the couple at all 😭 the plot was fun and something i’d usually love but i’m a ✨character✨ person so it didn’t hit for me. I loved that Freya was plus sized and was trying to put herself out there now that she is almost 30 and wanting to find her forever person like all of her friends are.

The whole 30 year old virgin, insecure about her body and her super hot athlete friend who is gonna lend a helping hand with the virginity issue is not something I can suffer through right now.The author infused the story with enough humor and heart to make it an enjoyable and entertaining read! Lol, where does this author think straight women learn about sex because I guarantee you they don’t learn shit from the 16 year old boy the average straight woman lost her virginity to. Freya decides to confide in her best friend about how awkward she is around guys and can’t date because of it – he becomes her love coach to help her out. I’m a sucker for sports romance but being from the UK I’m so used to reading about American sports, even ‘soccer’, so to read about English football made a refreshing change and was a lovely surprise!

And lastly there were a couple of terms Freya would use in her naivity and overall innocence that wrecked me. Of course there are missteps while their friendship grows into something else, but their quick and witty banter never stops. Its so funny reading a book with a Scottish character because I rarely find them and as a proud Scottish woman myself it's a real treat to read.Even if you think someone is out of your league doesn’t mean you start saying you can’t be seen in their presence because of what others might think. They were polar opposites of each other (excluding the fact that they were both ginger - imagine their children! They hang out at her place and eat while watching her favorite show - which btw was mentioned so many times it got annoying after a while. This book is so fun and definitely has a charm to it, but it does turn really serious when someone close to Mac is sick and he gives up everything to be there for that person. The fact that Mac convinces Freya to lose her v to him and he proceeds to take it in such a sweet, smexy, yet alpha way gave me goosebumps (the good kind lol).

When Amy is not writing, she’s likely making charcuterie boards from her home in South Dakota where she lives with her daughter and husband. There is some angst here people, I hated the moments they weren’t together 😢 but as a reader of romance fiction I loved that Freya wasn’t a pushover and she had the strength not to forgive and forget as soon as those magical 3 words were spoken.Well, she’s a thick girl, curves for days, and Mac is… well, he’s a handsome, big, muscular soccer (football) player who’s very experienced, unlike her.

I bawled my eyes out, probably, because the story hit close to home but Amy didn't shy away from the difficult topic. I adored this story and found the narrators to be absolutely fabulous - they just made the story come alive.I really could go on about their bickering, the adopt-a-pet date, and much more – but I want you to actually read this review and get the book!
