All said, the plain old set it and forget settings work very well and do stay 'as is' between turning the unit off and the next sessions. I wonder if anyone has tried to compare things like this to the rather inexpensive iRig Acoustic STAGE version with the clip-on mic and body pack. I forgot to mention that one thing I really liked about the VE-8 was that the looper also loops the vocals -- which my rig can't do at all.

The custom-designed looper within the VE-8 allows you to lay down everything from percussive rhythms to chord progressions and vocal runs. Simple to use, the VE-8 provides studio-quality voice and guitar processing plus impressive real-time harmonies and looping in one compact, go-everywhere package. Additionally, if you play in a dark environment, none of the text on the pedal (apart from the little screen) is backlight, so you’ll need some light if you want to be able to read the little text next to each knob. One big one is, unlike the Ditto, with the VE-8 you can't undo the last layer, so if you mess up you have to start from scratch.

If I had my own spot and time, I would take a couple of my guitars that have undersaddle pickups and use my Fishman Aura Spectrum DI and Boss VE-8. Regardless, the midi inputs and outputs have nothing to do with attempting to record audio from the ve8 thru usb. The blurb is that it has the 'studio recorded sound of the 1937 Martin D18 done with top vintage mics' in the DNA of the Aura. If I were looking to do what you're suggesting I'd simply purchase a two button looper and series it with your VE-8.

You can link all these pieces together by, for example, going Guitar>VE-8>Ditto>PA or speaker or whatever. But if I was going to do a tune at the blues night or an open mic, only choice of guitar would be my Martin D18E with Aura inbuilt! But as soon as I add fingerpicking with bass notes and trebles notes and chord splashes and all the things I do without thinking about it, there it is - QUACK. For vocals you simply have to plug a microphone into the integrated XLR input and dial in the effects you desire - everything from subtle ambience that adds a new layer of depth to vocal performances to more aggressive electronic effects such as as distortion or radio voice tones for added versatility. However for smaller solo pub gigs the Boss on its own is ideal and the guitar still sounds very good.I do think that a non-essential component like a looper should not be allowed to dictate the choice of more important core components such as the buffer and the eq, nor indeed of other components such as tuners and fx units. Process your guitar and vox in real time with a phantom-powered mic preamp to create rich harmonies and pitch correct, then add authentic Boss effects like the Mod Delay and Chorus all from the comfort of a single box. But hes learnt that on those numbers he just needs to feel the groovy and apply the cajon in a very subtle manner , sometimes hit it just once per beat and creat teh right atmosphere. So yes, he does participate in all the tracks, but he has to very conscious, especially on the slower numbers, sometimes he still drifts off into his own world, thats when i need to snap him back to earth again.

This thing works with lots of hidden features so you have to learn the manual to properly use it and access those features. The looper on the CVE-8 is anemic (only 80 seconds), which means you can't record a whole song with a chorus and chord changes. BluesKing777 wrote:I also agree with Kev that the input needs to be sorted before it gets to the Boss input.Stereo XLR balanced outputs provide a direct feed to the house PA, while stereo 1/4-inch outputs let you send a separate signal to stage monitors or an acoustic amp. Additionally there is an AUX input allowing you to connect a smartphone or other device to the unit to play backing music Stereo XLR balanced outputs have also been provided, allowing you to directly feed the VE-8 to a house PA. I'm not a big fan of the Fishman Sonitone in my GPRS1, especially compared to its outstanding pure acoustic sound, and the Acoustic Enhance goes a long way towards taming the quack and as I think I said elsewhere, throwing a little faux air or depth to it. This compact module provides you with a range of different controls and functions that allow you to process your vocals and guitar.
