Description

The differences between the forms of the language within the islands have been a major obstacle in the way of standardization of the language. Before independence from Portugal, Cape Verde did not have an official flag, and the Portuguese national flag was used. A large part of Cape Verdeans emigrated abroad, mainly to the United States, Portugal and France, so that there are more Cape Verdeans residing abroad than at home.

The colours symbolize the sky and the sea (blue), peace (white) and the efforts of the people (red). Cape Verde has one of the best educational systems in Africa, ranked 8th by the World Education Forum in 2023. The Carnival and the island of São Vicente are portrayed in the 2015 feature documentary Tchindas, nominated at the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards. The country is a horseshoe-shaped cluster of ten islands (nine inhabited) and eight islets, [43] that constitute an area of 4033 km 2 (1557 sq mi). Angola, Brazil, China, Libya, Cuba, France, Guinea-Bissau, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Russia, Luxembourg, and the United States maintain embassies in Praia.

To prolong the life of your flags we recommend, if possible, to take your flag down overnight and dont expose your flag to rain, snow or unusually high winds, as these conditions will reduce its life considerably. The PAICV and its predecessor established a one-party system and ruled Cape Verde from independence until 1990. Designed to represent both Cabo Verde and Guinea-Bissau after their liberation from Portuguese colonial rule, the flag incorporated the pan-African red-yellow-green and a black star to symbolize the African peoples and their hope for dignity, liberty, and peace. On the blue field, which represents the deep sea of this country, there are ten yellow stars, which represent the principle islands of Cape Verde.

The most popular and standard 3x5 foot Flag is lightweight Knitted Polyester that make flag flying high to its attractive appearance. Moving its headquarters to Conakry, Guinea in 1960, the PAIGC began an armed rebellion against Portugal in 1961. The size of this invisible circle (which determines the size of the stars) is not specified by the constitution, but it is commonly constructed with a diameter equal to 1/12 of the height of the flag, i.Small unmanned flying drones able to carry up to 5kg were being used experimentally for tasks such as delivering medicines between the islands in 2021. The flag of Cape Verde, which has been adopted in 1992, is composed of a blue sheet and three stripes in white and red colors.

There are smaller harbours, essentially single jetties at Tarrafal on São Nicolau, Sal Rei on Boa Vista, Vila do Maio (Porto Inglês) on Maio, São Filipe on Fogo and Furna on Brava. Another great exponent of traditional music from Cape Verde was Antonio Vicente Lopes, better known as Travadinha, and Ildo Lobo, who died in 2004. Do not place the flag where the wind will whip it against rough surfaces, tree branches, wires, cables etc, as this can seriously harm your flag.

The volcanic and plutonic rocks are distinctly basic; the archipelago is a soda-alkaline petrographic province, with a petrologic succession similar to that found in other Macaronesian islands. Adopted in 1992, the flag of Cape Verde has five unequal horizontal bands of blue, white, and red, with a circle of ten yellow five-pointed stars, all pointing upwards.

Eco-friendly flag – This revolutionary fabric is made from recycled plastic items such as PET bottles and industrial polyester waste which has been melted down into chips, then spun into yarn that is knitted to form a material.

In some such areas this precipitation is sufficient to support a rainforest habitat, albeit one significantly affected by the islands' human presence. It established as top development priorities the promotion of a market economy and the private sector; the development of tourism, light manufacturing industries, and fisheries; and the development of transport, communications, and energy facilities.
