If you don’t need the electronic level, the Bluetooth connectivity, or the eye recognition (for people photos), the previous model, the XP120 is otherwise the same camera, and you might be able to find some good deals.

The results are good enough for general holiday snaps, but you wouldn’t want to use them for much more than that. Condensation is particularly likely to occur if the camera is placed in cold water after being exposed to high temperatures or taken from a cold to a warm environment or if the battery chamber is opened in a humid location. Wind noise - often a problem with outdoor movie recording - is reduced thanks to the Wind Filter setting, plus users can also capture high speed action at up to 380 frames-per-second.

This is an easy shot to expose for and should be a slam dunk for just about any automatic camera, but the auto exposure still managed to underexpose it by quite a lot and result in a flat image. Ideal for snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking and other outdoor leisure activities, the FinePix XP70 complies with IP68 standards (*4).

It responds quite well and is relatively smooth–just don’t expect any smooth zoom shots when filming video.
