About this deal
The lamp was a piece of walnut approximately 5' long, 3" wide and 3/4" thickness at about a 70 degree angle to the floor with a lightstrip running down the center — it might have been off-center — to the base — a dark, weighted block. I also thought that lining the hole in the base with rubber would provide additional friction, in addition to protecting the wood. I used the router to create the channel in the wood for the LED light strip, as well as round the edges of the lamp and base that would make contact with the floor.
Furthermore, while the lamp we saw was at a fixed angle, I had the idea of being able to thread the lamp through the base and use the friction between the two to adjust and hold the angle of the lamp. However, one of the goals of doing a project, such as designing and building a lamp is to learn new tools and techniques.

The drill press allowed me to create an opening in the base for the spine of the lamp that was cleaned up using a chisel.Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable).
