The nineteenth episode, which eventually became the season finale, was produced using filmed material in live-action combined with animation created by Proof, a visual effects company which uses uses 3D animation software and real-time computer graphics led by Eisendrath's brother in law. While the show faces backlash for its controversial content, it has managed to avoid being canceled by evolving and balancing profound themes with humor. Flashbacks often focus on Jack and Rebecca circa 1980, both before and after their children's birth, or on the family when the big three are children or adolescents, and are played by two sets of younger actors; these scenes usually take place in Pittsburgh, where the big three and their parents are born and raised. In the two years following the death of Elizabeth Keen, Raymond Reddington (James Spader) and the members of the FBI Task Force have disbanded - their lives now changed in unexpected ways and with Reddington's whereabouts unknown. The story line, which Fogelman admitted to not having a definite direction, revolved around the lives of eight adults who, as it would be revealed, were octuplets.

As instantly recognisable as abbreviations may be to someone who watches that show, to someone who doesn’t, it is just a meaningless collection of letters that have to be looked up. Ryan Eggold was set for the lead role, playing Tom Keen, with a family relations buildup similar to what seasons seven and eight of the original series introduced. Despite positive reviews from both 20th Century Fox Television and its sister company, Fox, there were concerns regarding risk of attracting an audience, and Fox sold it to NBC. The explanation of Reddington's identity and his interference in Elizabeth's life is never formally given. After all, the "Dee Day" Always Sunny episode only further proves that the series is about a bunch of out-of-touch narcissists running a bar in Philadelphia; it's not supposed to be tasteful.

Each It’s Always Sunny episode is missing for the same reason: the gang’s controversial use of blackface, brownface, or yellowface. Megan Boone reveals the only time a scene got a standing ovation from the cast and crew on The Blacklist". Thanks to the show's success, though, NBC and the producers have little reason to tinker with that formula, other than having Spader's 'Red' Reddington assume an expanded role within the premiere, while tapping some fine new actors to join (temporarily, perhaps) the program's extended company". She manipulates Liz to get to Reddington, the only man who is aware of the true Katarina's location (seasons 7–8; guest, season 6). Regardless, the banned moments haven't had It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia taken off-air, and the consensus is that the show is trying to be a force for good in the world. The pilot was lauded by the critics, praising the original plot and cast performance, especially by Spader.

The idea was kicked around to center a show that is about catching bad guys but with a bad guy at the center of it.The season also featured most of the lead cast from the series' spin-off, The Blacklist: Redemption. With a few exceptions, each episode features one of the global criminals, and Raymond Reddington assists the task force in hunting down and capturing them. In the process, they begin to uncover lethal adversaries, unimaginable conspiracies and surprising betrayals that will threaten alliances and spur vengeance for the past, led by the most devious criminal of them all, Raymond Reddington.

Genson Blimline as Morgan: Reddington's operative who usually accompanies Chuck on their missions (seasons 5–9). In May 2017, Hulu acquired the SVOD rights to new and past episodes of the series to air exclusively on Hulu, in addition to NBC. The Blacklist Showrunner John Eisendrath Talks about the Show's Inspiration, Getting Inside the Mind of a Criminal, Casting James Spader, and More". At the time, it was usually compared with Hostages, which premiered alongside the series, and Homeland due to the mutual connection between the characters of Reddington and Nicholas Brody and the transfer of Diego Klattenhoff, comparing him to Homeland's Mike Faber. In July 2015, Edi Gathegi was revealed as a high-class operative and assassin set up to kill Elizabeth. The Blacklist is an American crime thriller television series created by Jon Bokenkamp and developed by John Eisendrath. Various actresses (seasons 3–8) and Sami Bray (season 9–10) as Agnes Keen: the daughter of Elizabeth and Tom who reflects after any major event occurring to Liz. A question for many, especially those unfamiliar with It's Always Sunny, is why the show's now-removed episodes were made in the first place. The producers found "something specific" in Megan Boone and cast her for the role of Elizabeth Keen. It’s not uncommon for streaming services to remove episodes after they have already aired on television, with the decisions largely coming from backlash by audience members or executives once educated on why it would be more beneficial to remove them than to keep them on.
