It was really predictable (especially with the cover too) but I personally I don't think thats an issue. But Hussey skillfully weaves in a more serious undercurrent, while still keeping the overall tone light, and doesn't overlook the challenges faced by young LGBTQ+ people today.He's clearly a fan of cinema, which is demonstrated in the main thrust of the plot, but the main character also has the same heart condition as the author, which gives us a great insight into what it must be like and the worries and concerns that someone living with this condition must experience. I found the “jokes” to be forced and completely uneeded , Like the whole sex dungeon thing at the beginning …. And his latest book, Broken Hearts and Zombie Parts, is a rom-com about a boy who needs an open heart operation.
